I lay broken and lost
A piece to a long-forgotten puzzle
I want to laugh, but I shed a tear
No longer a child, sweet and fragile
Now a man, strong and agile
Never to be broken, only to break
I want to smile, to be at peace
Yet, I toiled, a merciless hunter
A soldier, amongst men
But my time is now over, to dust I now turn
Alone once more, an old man in his chair
Gun in my lap, one choice I now have
One final salute, a soldier departs
