the next morning | Harrisburg, P.A.

Kelis.

"I got a schedule all lined up for you when you get back." Vicki tells me over the line. I nod while scooping some ice cream.

"What is it looking like?" I question.

"You have a meeting with the executive board next Monday to talk about your next trip. You also have a few on call meetings for some advertising deals, Tuesday thru Thurday. Friday you have a lunch meeting with Treasure." She informs. I eat the ice cream off the spoon and nod.

"Ok. Anything deliveries?"

"Yes, some cosmetics and clothing came."

"Cool. Any other calls?" Raising my brows, I wait for a response.

"Umm. No. Oh wait, your therapist called on Friday after you left. She tried to call you, but I think you were already on the plane. Other than that, that's it." Vicki informs.

"Ok, I'll call her and let her know that I'm fine. Keep up the good work Vocki and if you need anything, call me." Vicki agrees and we share some words. Afterwards, we end the call and I finish up my ice cream. It's eight in the morning and I figured since no one was up, I'd make a call. For two days, I had put work on hold and I needed to check on things. Usually when I leave, I close down my office so I can focus on my task at hand. Since I'm not on a weekly trip, I had to keep it open and have Vicki manage my space for awhile. She's really great at what she does. After sitting my bowl in the sink, I look at the time to see its eleven thirty in the morning. I know my therapist isn't in her office, so I call her personal line. After a few rings the voicemail picks up. Sighing, I hang up and sit my phone down on the counter. I comb my hair back while hearing someone come down the stairs. Khalid enters the kitchen while yawning, heading to the fridge.

"Good morning." He exhales.

"Morning." I mumble, watching as he heads over to the cake dish. He cuts a slice of cake from last night and places it on the napkin.

"What are you doing up so early?" He questions, grabbing a fork out the drawer.

"It's almost twelve in the afternoon." I chuckle. Khalid scoffs and shakes his head.

"Damn. My fault. I'm still hungover." He mumbles as I shake my head. I travel over to the table and have seat with him.

"I can tell." I mumble while drinking an iced latte I made. Khalid cuts into the cake with the fork while sighing.

"Yea. You good though?" Nodding, I look down at my nails and begin to pick them.

"Yea, why you ask?" Khalid smirks while chewing, sitting back in his seat.

"Grandmom told me she upset you last night." He says. I roll my eyes as he burst into laughter.

"She's always doing the most. Talking about how I need a man and how she had a nice gentleman for me."

"That's funny as hell. You know how Grandmom is though. I had to go through that plenty of times, until I married Sierra. After that, I ain't have to hear her mouth no more."

"I don't think I'll ever get married." I tell him, shaking my head.

"Why not?" Shrugging my shoulders, I scratch my forehead.

"I don't know. I had a lot of dreams that I accomplished, and marriage was one of them. Now, it's just a dream again." I explain. Khalid shakes his head while finishing his cake.

"You always do this." Khalid argues.

"Do what?" I question confused.

"That back and forth shit. You couldn't leave out the door before changing your outfit at least four times. You don't know if you want to wear your natural hair or wigs. You're either in a long term relationship, or dipping and dodging niggas. You didn't know where you wanted to live, and let's not forget you changed your career how many times? I honestly lost count." He teases, causing me to laugh and throw a grape from the fruit bowl at him.
