I was definitely in a panic. Not only had I undeniably just embarrassed myself in front of my new neighbors, but my new neighbor was particularly attractive.
I had never been in my new house before, so making a dash through the doors was harder than it sounded. I second guessed my instinct of turning right, and found myself in the kitchen. I doubled back only to be back in the main entrance.
"Stairwell is on your first left, and I'm assuming your room is second door to the right?" Interfered Harry.
I look at him flabbergasted, almost upset he knew more about my home than myself.
"Our houses have the same layout dear," said Anne cheerfully.
Without another word I left my parents and guests and followed Harry's instructions. My boxes and bags full of books and records were weighing down my arms like 100 pound weights, which was pretty accurate considering how much I grabbed from my car. To escape this treacherous day I needed a good dose of TLC with my laptop, and music.
Without thinking otherwise, I began to leap steps two at a time. I had 5 more giant hardwood steps to go when CRASH. I had lost my footing and slid down the stairs managing to hit my head in the railing. I knew once it happened that people could zoom in to my rescue, and boy was I right.
Before I was surrounded by my parents, Harry, and Anne I picked myself up trying not to look pathetic.
"Isabelle!! You're bleeding." My mother sounded exasperated as if blood was something she'd never seen.
"No mom, I'm really fine. I just fell down a few stairs and dropped my boxes. I bet it's just a scratch."
Well that was the over exaggerate of my life time. I reached my hand to touch my forehead as I felt the sticky warm blood. My little fall had caused me to feel so much worse. Before I knew it, Harry was half way up the stairs with all my boxes and bags. I would have refused his help, but my head was throbbing and my knees were aching.
My mother helped me up the stairs, and wrapped a bandage over my cut. I wallowed in my self embarrassment as I strode away
. An absolutely gorgeous room awaited me with light gray walls and perfect white trims. My room had both skylights and a window seat peering into the direction of the house next door. I could only hope that the window wasn't near Harry's room.
"Well that's the last of it. I hope you're feeling alright?" Harry questioned.
"Yeah, I'll be ok. Just a bit bruised, thank you for the help with the stuff."
"No problem. I'll be on my way then." With the same little wave of his hand, he was out of my room accompanied by my mother. I finally had time to myself, or so I thought.
