It was gone.
I've heard stories of a planet covered in life,covered in plants and animals of all shapes and sizes. A planet where you could be yourself, be free. It was called earth and it was perfect... Until we came along.
Nobody's been back since we abandoned our home almost 300 years ago. I've always dreamt of returning to see the history my ancestors destroyed, that they left behind to rot without a second thought. The sirens began to blare as the blinding red lights flashed. There was a breach in the lower decks and to this day I still don't know who or what caused it. That day something in my brain clicked and I jamp at the opportunity of the distraction to sneak into the garages.
The tumbling noises of the engine were deafening as the ship breached the atmosphere of the planet we now called 61B. As the ship fell towards the planet dark gray clouds covered the windscreen. Out of nowhere the clouds parted as the planet's surface burst into view. I pulled back on the flight tiller (a tiller for those who don't know is the steering wheel of a plane) sending the ship swurving up and scouring the hull off the side of the barren forest. Eventually after what felt like hours of searching I found an area clear for landing, in what appeared to be an ancient human settlment.
