Mask

The sun was fully up, looking down on us in the sky.

We wake up, and I see V, smiling down on me, like as if I didn't witness anything early in the morning. I'm pretty sure he didn't know to start with.

V:" Morning, sunshine."
I close my eyes, and pretend he's Jungkook. I smile.

Y/N:" Morning."
I hug him. Jungkook comes. We look at each other and I mouth 'Im just pretending to love him'. He nods, and smiles at me.
We break the embrace.

V:" So, what do you want to do?"

Y/N:" Hmmm, I just want to eat."
V looks at me, surprised, then nods. He looked so........innocent. It pains me that he's only putting it on as a mask. I push him away.

We eat what they have in their backpacks. Jin said that they went back home and brought things with them. After we ate, Jungkook brought YeonJi with him. I hugged YeonJi, missing her warm fur.

It was sunset, and I was petting YeonJi, both of us looking at the sun setting as we stare upon the sea. Jungkook sits next to me.

Jungkook:" He's acting, isn't he?"
I shrug.

Y/N:" I don't know."
I whisper.

V comes. He looks at us in confusion, like a lost dog.

V:" What are you guys doing?"

Y/N and Jungkook:" Nothing."

V shrugs and walks on. A tear falls down my cheek. Jungkook wipes it away with his thumb.

Jungkook:" I'll protect you, I promise."
He pulls me into an embrace, YeonJi cuddling against his chest.

Jungkook:" When there is hope, there are trials."
He sings. His voice sounded so soothing. We hear footsteps, and we break the embrace.

V:" I thought I heard singing."

Y/N:" No, it's just your imagination. Can you go now?"

V was shocked by what I said. He's never heard me say things so cold.

I'm tired of putting him first.
It's time I put myself first.

It's time for me to put on my own mask.....
