"Ky?" He could hear Gemma saying.
"Gemma I'm here!" He called back.
He looked around and saw that he was in a pitch black labyrinth. Gemma was nowhere to be found. He started running but got nowhere.
"Ky." A woman's voice said softly.
"Who are you?" He asked.
"No need to explain. Ky listen to me now."
"Why should I trust you?"
"I know how you can save Gemma."
"How?!"
"No need to be impatient."
"Sorry. Please tell me." He pleaded.
"Not yet."
"Why not? What's wrong?!"
"I must go. Remember something."
"Anything." He spoke.
"Focus on the light not the shadows."
"What?" He said softly. "Ma'am! Lady!" He screamed.
After awhile he just gave up. Soon everything around him began to morph into a bright light. He kept running away from it, but then remembered what the lady said. He walked forward. Towards the light. There was a silhouette of a figure.
"Gemma?" He screamed.
"Ky!" She screamed back.
She started to run towards him. Ky ran towards her. The moment they got close the was a spark of light and darkness.
Ky shot up in his seat. Ky was there for days. Sitting on the same couch day after day for Gemma. He got up to go splash some water on his face. As he was exiting he looked back. In the light accumulated by the screens he saw her face. He crossed back over and looked down at her. Gemma's face was shining by the lights. He pushed aside a strand of her hair. Leaned in close. He kiss her softly on her forehead. He walked away and out of the room.
Ky walked down the bright hallways of the hospital. It is silent, peaceful almost at night. He walked down past a few rooms to the bathroom. He gently pushed open the door and flicked on the light. He put both hands on the sink and looked at his reflection. Standing there staring at himself. His dirty blonde hair was a mess. He looked like he hasn't slept in days, which is true. Ky turned the metal sink handle for a stream of cold water to appear. He cupped his hands and brought the cold water up to his face. It felt refreshing against his bare skin. He pushed the handle off, grabbed some toilet paper and dried his face. He looked in the mirror again and saw the reflection of a shadow up against the wall. It was a silhouette of a woman. He looked closer she had the same brown hair as Gemma. He blinked it away.
Quickly he shut the door and decided to get some fresh air. He walked down the hall with his hands in his pockets. The hospital was quiet at night. Ky looked through each room one after the other with 'Get Well' balloons and flowers. Then he came across a room that had nothing. He stopped and looked around for a second before entering the room. The room number was 102. He gently pushed open the door to reveal a young girl probably around 10 years old. Her face was dirty and her attire was old fashioned. She was wearing a high neck white nightgown with lace embellishments. She had blonde hair which looked like it hasn't been combed in ages. She just laid there. There was no posters or flowers or family members. Nothing. He took hold of her hand and it was ice cold. Quickly removing his hand from hers he went to the nearest desk to find out about her.
"Excuse me?" He said waving his hand to the desk nurse.
"Yes?"
"Hi, so uh- I was just wondering who that girl is?" He motioned his hands in the girls' room direction.
