Wonhui was silent.

Sure, she was at the library. She was supposed to shut her mouth. But there's also the fact that Han Jiyeon was sitting beside her right now. Normally, they would gossip a little and slightly giggle at dumb people. Today was different.

"What are you so quiet for?" Jiyeon said in a bored voice while scrolling through her phone. "Don't you have stuff to share?"

Wonhui wasn't in the mood to share. "Stuff about what?"

"You always have stuff to share!" Jiyeon said. "Like, I don't know. That pushover from this class you attend?"

Did Wonhui really say something like that?

"Or your brother, at least. He has cool friends. You know them, right?"

"Right. Them."

Honestly, whenever Han Jiyeon manages to divert the topic and make Wonhui talk about them, she never really knew what to say. People expect so much interesting stuff about them when literally all they do (at least from Wonhui's observation whenever they come over) is play video games and eat ramyun.

Maybe that was why she suddenly told Jiyeon that Jungwoo is her prom date.

"Well, Jung Jaehyun broke up with his girlfriend but you already know that..." Wonhui trailed off.

"The whole school knows that," Jiyeon said. "How about your date?"

Ugh. "Kim Jungwoo?"

"Yeah. I mean, if he's really your date."

"What do you mean?" Jeez. Maybe Jungwoo actually did mind and had already told the whole school that Wonhui was lying?

"It's okay," Jiyeon said. "Haemi was just wondering why he'd ask you in the first place and now that I'm thinking about it... nevermind."

"Haemi?"

"It was just some stuff she was saying," Jiyeon said, brushing it off. "You know how she is. Anyway, you wouldn't lie about that, would you?"

Would she?

It was the perfect moment to come clean. Before this conversation, Wonhui had already cleared her head and was about to tell Jiyeon that she was bluffing about the prom thing. She didn't even care about what Jiyeon might say.

But the fact that she doubted her? The fact that she implied that Wonhui could never get someone like Kim Jungwoo as her prom date? Clearly, Han Jiyeon thought low of her. And that was insulting.

"No. Why would I lie?"
