Never have I thought of my life being this great as it was right now. I just received a phone call from the University of Washington School of Medicine informing me that I got accepted into their medical school. Happiness wasn't the correct word to explain how I felt at this moment. The emotion I was feeling at this moment was indescribable. I was ready to tell my family about this exciting news especially my boyfriend who's been supporting me since day one.

I arrived at my apartment and put my keys into the hole before opening my door. I entered my home and shouted, "Andrew! Babe! I've got exciting news to tell you!" I got no response, so I assumed he was upstairs sleeping.

I walked up the steps to our bedroom and heard shuffling coming from the room. I furrowed my eyebrows together in confusion but shrugged it off knowing that Andrew would never cheat on me. I rested my hand on the door knob and it opened, the sight of my long term boyfriend plunging into a brunette from behind...on the bed we both shared.

My mouth hung open and I felt every piece of happiness in me wither away like a puff of smoke. I stared at the both of them in disbelief not believing what was happening right in front of me. Large tears brimmed in my eyes as I dropped everything on the ground and just stood there like a statue.

Andrew immediately got off the brunette who was staring at me with humiliation. "Why?" I whispered. "How could you do this to me? To us? Why Andrew?!"

"Chanel!" Andrew shouts. "T-This wasn't–uh...this wasn't supposed to happen. I wanted to tell you. Fuck! This is not what it looks like!"

My blood boiled with anger. "Tell me what? That you're cheating on me with another girl. We've been together for five fucking years! I put my heart and soul into our relationship, and this is what I get? How could you, Andrew?! Why throw our relationship away like this?!"

"Chanel, I'm sorry. This was a mistake. I love you, and only you. I don't love her." He frantically apologizes, fear and humiliation gleaming in his eyes.

I scoffed. "You don't love me. This isn't love. This isn't how you treat the person who's been there for you since day one." Tears were cascading down my cheeks as I walked to my closet and began to pack all of my things into my suitcase.

"What are you doing? You can't leave me! I need you, Chanel!" Andrew pleads. "I can't live without you. Please, Chanel. I'm sorry!"

I ignored him and continued to throw all of my clothes into my suitcase. "Chanel, our love is real. Don't do this. Don't throw our relationship away!"

Okay, now that got me infuriated. "Excuse me? You threw our relationship away as if it meant nothing to you! Don't blame this all on me. And our love...it was never real. When a love is real, it doesn't lie, cheat, pretend, hurt you or make you feel unwanted. It's supposed to be a cure to all your worries. And look what happened, you did all of those things and cheated yourself out of true loyalty. Don't put the blame on me, you fucking bastard!"

"Chanel, please give me a chance," he begs. "I'm sorry, babe. It was a mistake."

I zipped my suitcase up and turned around to face him. "Cheating is a choice, not a mistake." And with that, I exited the room and didn't even bother looking back.

"What can I get for ya darlin'?" A handsome bartender with soft, blonde hair asks as he flashed me a charming smile.

"Anything strong." I replied hoarsely.

"Rough night?" he asks, raising one of his eyebrows at me. I nodded my head. "I have a lot of people who come here and tell me their stories. What's yours?"

"I caught my boyfriend cheating on me," I told him. "We've been together for five years. I just got accepted to medical school and I wanted to tell him about it, but I caught him having sex with another girl on the bed we both shared."

"Medical school. Hmm. Are you a doctor or something?" The bartender asks.

"I plan on being a cardiothoracic surgeon in the future." I announced, a small smile forming on my lips.

"So, you have a thing with hearts?" He questions.

"And lungs," I added. "Cardio has always been my thing."

"That's cute," he compliments. "Do you mind fixing my heart if it ever gets broken?"

I chuckled. "I want to become a surgeon, not a therapist."

"But isn't there a thing called broken heart syndrome?" He asks, raising an eyebrow.

"Yes, there is," I nod my head. "But that only occurs if you experience the death of a loved one."

"Hmm, tell me more, smarty pants," he teases. "I have never been this interested in a conversation about hearts before."

"Are you for real, or are you just saying that?" I stare at him with amusement.

"I'm a 25 year old junior in high-school," he deadpans. "I'm practically dumb."

I laughed. "What's your name, blondie?"

"James," he answers. "You?"

"Chanel," I tell him. "But you can call me, Dr. Blaque."
