When Mitch comes out of the bathroom, I blush. He's wearing nothing but a towel wrapped securely around his waist. I stare at his slim body. His ribs show, protruding unhealthily from his skin. He's definitely skinnier than he used to be. He looks surprised to see me, as if he forgot I was in here. He grabs a pair of fresh clothes and heads back into the bathroom, while I stare after him. Is there more to Mitch's issues than he's letting on?
There's a knock at my door, and I stand, heading to go answer it. Mitch appears from the bathroom, peering at the door from a few feet behind me. When I open the door, I'm tempted to punch the man I see standing there. Travis Bush.
"What the hell are you doing here, Travis?"
"I came to see my boyfriend. When I saw on twitter that you two were together, I just had to come visit." His gaze moves past me, and I glance back at Mitch, who is frozen in fear. I step outside, shutting my door behind me.
"You can't be here," I growl. "This is my home, and Mitch may be a guest, but you are not. Get the hell off my property, Bush."
"As soon as you let me talk to my boyfriend, I will." He tries to push past me to get to the door, but I shove him back. "Don't touch me, Scott. You will regret it."
"One, Mitch is your ex boyfriend. Two, you're not going to be able to push me around, because I will not hesitate to beat your ass to protect Mitchy." Travis frowns at me, his gaze turning threatening.
"Why, do you want him all to yourself? Pathetic. You know he'll never like you back, right? You're not his type. I am." He starts to move past me again, but I grab his arm. "Listen, blondie. You're wasting your time. He's going to come back to me anyways."
"I'm not protecting him because I want him all to myself, dipshit. I'm protecting him because he has been my best friend since I was ten fucking years old, and he has the right to make his own choices about his life. You are not going to hurt him again. You're not even going to get close enough to try. Now, get the fuck off my property before I call the cops on your ass." Travis is speechless. He just stares at me, his mouth gaping and his eyes clouded with a mix of confusion and anger. He's not used to people talking back.
With one last glare, he walks to his car and drives away. I sigh, going back inside to find Mitch curled up on the floor, crying.
"Mitchy, Sweetheart, it's okay. He's gone now." I sit next to him, pulling him into my lap. "You're alright. I'm gonna keep you safe. He won't hurt you again." I'm not sure how long I hold him, shaking and sobbing, in my lap, but he eventually calms down. He lifts his head, face still wet with tears.
"Thanks for making him leave. That means a lot," he sniffles. I smile, not answering, and just hold him. I feel so protective. I would do anything to protect Mitchy. "You make me feel safe," he whispers, his words slightly muffled by my chest.
"Good." I kiss his head. "I don't want you to be scared." I pick him up and carry him to the couch. "Do you wanna watch something?" He nods. "Spongebob?" A smile forms on his lips, and he nods again. I start the show and cuddle up against him, my arm wrapped protectively around his slim form. I should be watching the show, but instead I find my gaze fixed on Mitch.
Soon, Mitch notices my eyes on him, and he looks up at me. I reach up, letting my fingers glide down his cheek. He stares at me, his lips slightly parted. I look down at them, then back at his brown eyes.
It feels like it's happening in slow motion when he leans toward me, pressing a gentle peck to my lips. There's a pause before I lean toward him, kissing more fiercely this time. He gasps, reaching up to tangle his fingers in my hair as I push him back into the couch so I'm pinning him down against the cushions.
I nip gently at his bottom lip, and he moans softly into my mouth. My hands slide down, firmly squeezing his ass.
I lean away from him slightly, trying to catch my breath. He moves up, straddling my lap. When I realize what he's thinking, I smile.
