Adrian had other plans. He did not go to Section 3. Instead, he went further south, riding the MRT to the shooting point of the presidential car. It was only last night when Arlene discovered where the ARMN snipers were going to wait. The hackers monitored the communication lines, which only gave him access to his two personal bodyguards.
They devised a plan through MR Chat which gave them a flawed but good enough result. He walked a few blocks from the station before meeting up with his bodyguards who were as always, wearing all black. Adrian hugged them both to which they responded with an awkward pat on the back.
"Your father is worried about you, are you sure you want to do this?" Maica asked.
"Three is better than two."
Jun, his other bodyguard handed him a bigger gun.
"How many are they?"
"Four."
"Let's go, the Vice President's getting near."
They jogged to the street. ARMN had no idea that the president was going to leave for the Independence Day Gala later that day in a helicopter. They were going to end up shooting the Melanie Rogers, the Vice President and President Mariano did not care. He didn't even inform Melanie's guards about the planned assassination, he was twisting it into his own will, and he wanted her to get assassinated.
Adrian didn't have to bother killing the assassins, but he couldn't stand letting Rogers die when he knew he could've done something. For once, he wanted to do something his father did not blackmail him to do.
He spotted the gun points from second story windows of four houses in the middle of the street. They could still shoot them from street level but they doubted they wouldn't get noticed.
"I don't like this," Maica said. "Why don't you let us do this on our own?"
"Don't be crazy, you'll need my gun skills." Adrian positioned himself on the sidewalk with a car as his shield. Maica joined him while Jun stayed on the other side.
Adrian calculated his target. He had to angle his gun upwards to hit the man but he wasn't even sure if it would hit him. They could just start chaos and the snipers would just aim at them and kill them easily.
"First shot's yours, boss." He hated it when they called him boss.
He pulled the trigger, aiming for the first then the second window. But he missed one and he was the new target. Everything happened at once. Maica blocked him and got shot on her stomach, all while Jun was shooting and the gunmen were shooting back.
The Vice President's car was going on full speed but bullets punctured the wheels and it stopped several yards from them. The rifles' bullets went right through the bulletproof car. Where the hell did they get those guns? Oh right, they got those guns from a boutique.
Adrian and Jun shot the last two gunmen and everything went silent. That was when he noticed he had a wound above his right foot. Jun was free of even a scrape. He ran to them and carried Maica.
A guard got out of the car with a wound on his shoulder. He immediately assisted Adrian when he recognized him.
"Is it only you?" Adrian asked.
"They got her and the others. I'm calling for a car."
A closed jeep arrived in the scene. The four of them got on and the driver rushed them to the Malacañang. On the way, Adrian managed to get connected to his father in a virtual version of his office. His father dressed to impress with his usual suit.
