Mother and I sit waiting at the restaurant for my sister Indiana to arrive.
Im not feeling well today, so as I clasp my hands around the glass of water and take a giant gulp,
my mother turns to me she has Audrey Hepburn's eyes, hair and size but a less delicate more stronger looking face, she wears a violet skirt that pleats at the ends and a matching violet jacket with a white tuxedo shirt under it the collar vertically pleats up under her chin then with it a brooch that has a gold curled carved frame and a painting of of course violets.
"Darling Marcia," she says in her soft sweet American/English accent,
"I do not personally agree with the guidelines of how ladies should act or what they should do but however I shall teach you table manners,"
I nodded smiling.
So she taught me how the pinky is to be held when the tea is drank, how to hold a glass how to use the fork and so on..........
Now I look up and see my sister Indiana walking towards us, what a darling!
Emerald green almond shape eyes with red pursed lips and thick silk short black hair which she wears in the traditional style of her culture, then a traditional red and aqua colored dress (I'm not sure weather they are called a 'dress' but o'well).
"Hello Darling!" sounds my mother Katherine.
"Hello mother and Marcia".
"Hi Indie" I say.
"Now tell me about your day so far explain" My mother is well Wonderful! She always ask these questions she'll also ask you how it felt and all that, she's very optimistic in that way.
"Oh I don't think I can answer that today" starts Indie "I have much too exciting news".
"Go on what is it!" I urge.
"I'm getting.........."
"Married!" Mother buts in.
We all squeal and screech.
"Oh how exiting!, although how did mother you...........?" I question.
"Easy" she beams "once you here your 22 yr old daughter say 'I'm getting.....' you have a fair idea of what's coming!"
"Who's the man!"
Indies big round black mascara pelted eyes flutter down and her head tilts, she always does this, then you see her eyes flutter up and she smilies any man who sees it for the first time might think love at first sight.
She says,
"mother and I shall talk about the man, Marcia do you mind may we be excused?"
I feel a bit downcast and bite my bottom lip as they stand up waiting for my judgment not that there going to consider it anyway.
"Fine" I mutter, no point arguing.
