Katie's POV: "Mom! I DON'T want to go!"
"You're going. End of story."
"But I want to go to dance camp! Not singing camp!"
"I'm sorry. We already paid thousands of dollars for you to go."
"But I didn't ASK for you to pay for me to go!"
"Too bad. You're going, Katie."
This is ridiculous. I don't sing. I can't sing. I don't like singing. I dance. It's something I can actually do! I've been dancing since I was three years old! I love dancing! And I'm supposed to be leaving for a six-week SINGING camp tomorrow.
~tomorrow~
"I wanna stay up all night and jump around until we see the sun...," my alarm clock went off at 7:00 AM.
The camp's in the Poconos, which is two and a half hours from my house in New York, and I have to get there around 1:00 PM, so I have to leave around 10:30. So three and a half hours should be enough time to shower, blow-dry my hair, put on my favorite outfit, and do my makeup. I may not be excited for this, but I still want to look nice! Oh, and since my red hair is naturally straight, I save time by not having to straighten it!
~1 hour later~
I just showered, and now I'm in my favorite jean shorts that have rhinestones all over the back pockets and an old t-shirt blow-drying my hair.
~1 hour later~
My hair is dry, and I am now in my favorite black shirt. It's see-through with a little purple pocket over my left boob, so I'm also wearing a black bandeau underneath. Now, I'm putting my makeup on. I put bronzer on, and now I'm putting on purple eyeshadow to match the purple pocket on my shirt. Then, I'm going to put on top eyeliner, then bottom eyeliner, then lots of mascara. If I'm not gonna have a fun summer, I might as well get some guys.
~1 1/2 hours later~
We've been driving for an hour. I'm so not looking forward to this.
"Katie, just trust me. You'll like the camp!"
"Mom! What am I gonna like about it?! I hate singing! And it's a freaking SINGING camp! How am I supposed to like a camp that specializes in something that I don't like?!"
"Just calm down, honey. You'll like it! I promise."
I was about to protest some more when my favorite song came on the radio. I saw my mom smirk just as I turned my head to the window. I looked out the window as I sang along, "I'm broken, do you hear me? I'm blinded, 'cause you are everything I see..."
~1 1/2 hours later~
"We're here!" I heard my mom say. I guess I had fallen asleep in the car. I checked the mirror to make sure my hair and makeup hadn't gotten messed up. My makeup was fine, but I had to run a brush through my hair. I then got out of the car and started to wander around looking for my bunk.
"Wait! Katie! You don't know what bunk you're in!"
"Mo-om, shh!"
"Whatever. Sweetie, you're in the Senior's bunk." She looked down at the paper in her hand and said, "It looks like you'll be with girls your age, a year younger, and a year older."
"Thanks, mom. See you in six weeks."
Even though I'd rather be at dance camp, I was still anxious to get to the bunk and meet the other girls. Once I got to the bunk, I met everyone. I was the last one from my bunk to arrive. The other girls were Liz, Emily, Rachel, and Amber. I was surprised that there were so few girls spanning three grades, but I guess it's because it was a new camp. It had only been open for five years. We also had a counselor in our bunk named Jessie. We all unpacked our stuff while Jessie told us what was gonna happen. She said that the whole camp was going to gather at the ampitheater after dinner. We were going to get to meet all the staff and most of the other campers.
That night, after everything was unpacked and we had gotten to know each other within the bunk, we walked over to the ampitheater by the lake. The whole camp, which wasn't much, was there. Maybe fifty campers ranging in age from six to eighteen. The owners introduced themselves and all of the specialists. All of the counselors that lived in the bunks did the singing stuff, but there were other activities, like boating, swimming, rock climbing, and there was even a dance studio that I could practice in twice a week! Maybe this summer wouldn't be as bad as I thought!
After everyone was introduced, the owners said they had a surprise for us. "In honor of our fifth summer, we got someone special to come and help out all your counselors!"
Everyone looked around wondering who it could be. I looked at Amber thinking maybe she knew since she had gone to the camp all five summers, but she just shrugged. Then we started to hear music. You're insecure. Don't know what for... It was What Makes You Beautiful! By none other than my favorite band in the entire world and my future husbands! I mean, I have five fingers for a reason! On the first chorus, I almost died because my husbands walked out onto the stage. Brb, hyperventilating! Harry Edward Styles, Niall James Horan, Liam James Payne, Zayn Jawaad Malik, and Louis William Tomlinson finished the song live, and then introduced themselves. They said they would be working with each and every one of us to help us become superstars.
That night in the bunk, I started screaming. I tried so hard to hold it in, but I just couldn't contain my excitement! The other girls thought something was wrong with me--I couldn't blame them--but once I regained my sanity, I explained that One Direction was my idols and that I was their future wife. I mean, the only songs on my iPod are theirs, Ed Sheeran's, and Cher Lloyd's! Then, Jessie told us that they would be working with each camper INDIVIDUALLY over the course of the summer. I was the happiest person alive at that point, so I decided to go to sleep happy. I had a dream about my wedding to Liam. And now, I actually had a slim chance of that happening since I was actually meeting him! Maybe this summer would actually be really fun!
