Jackson's POV:

"Ugh shut up already" I groaned into my phone.

I was walking home from a party. It was pretty late, I guess around one am. The street lights reflecyed from the puddles of water on the sidewalk and the street. I was on the phone with my good friend Jinyoung, he was worried when I hadn't gotten back into our dorm by midnight like I had promised.

"Yeah yeah, I'll be there in five."

I saw movement in the corner of my eye. I turned around to look, and about 5 metres from me I saw a small creature hop to the street, attempting to cross it.

A cat.

It was a brown tabby cat. It was carrying a piece of meat I assumed it got from a nearby trashcan. It didn't have a collar and it's fur looked pretty ragged, so I assumed it didn't have an owner.

"You there?" Jinyoung's voice could be heard from the speaker.

"Y-yeah I am" I shook my head and was just about to continue my way to our dorm, when I saw a car with no lights come closer.

I furrowed my eyebrows when the cat dropped the meat.

The car came closer.

"Hold on a second" I mumbled and jumped to the street.

"Hello? Jackson?"

The car came even closer and the cat hadn't noticed it. It was too busy trying to get the huge piece of meat back into his mouth.

The car was less than 10 metres away from the cat when I sprinted forward.

I reached forward and grabbed cat, dashing forward and faceplanting onto the ground.

I watched the car pass by and then turned my gaze to the cat who looked terrified.

"Are you okay, kitty?"

As if the cat would understand what I'm saying.

I winced in pain, the asphalt is not the softest surface to land on.

The cat just started at me.

"No... No need to thank me. I'm just glad you didn't turn into roadkill." I got up and brushed my clothes clean.

The kitty rubbed it's face onto my leg and I chuckled.

"Well you're welcome."

I looked behind me and the piece of meat was gone.

"What a shame."

The look on the cat's face was pure disappointment. I felt bad for it.

"Hey why don't you come at my place and I'll feed you?"

I lifted the cat to my arms. It looked surprised but didn't squirm so I was able to carry him to our dorm.

"Jinyoung! We have a visitor."

So yeah, I've wanted to write a story like this for the longest time lmao. I got inspired by Wannabe_koreaboo, they made a really cool book and I totally loved it, so I thought I'd try writing a hybrid story too! We'll see where this'll go
