"What's your problem!" My blond Mother screamed at my brunette Father. She was holding is his Taylor Acoustic in one hand and his Midnight Black Les Paul Electric.

"I don't have a problem." My Father said, his words slurred. He has a goofy drunk smile inprinted across his thin pink lips. My dad scanned the room looking something. His eyes met mine and swayed over to the corner I was attempting to hide in.

I pressed my body more into the corner that I was already in. My father came over to me and grabbed my arm. "Come on Lissa, stick up for Daddy."

He had this wide look in his eye and I could spell the stench of Beer in his breath. It made me want to choke and shove him away. But I knew not to mess with him when he's full of alcohol. He pulled me from my confined space over towards my mother.

He kept pulling on my arm harder everytime I wouldn't move. I knew I had two choices, follow where my father was leading me and get yelled at for "Sticking up" for my dad or run away and hide for the next Two hours.

I chose to run.

I yanked my arm out of his grip and ran away up the stairs with him drunkenly chasing after me. He kept stumbling so I knew he wouldn't catch me.

I knew I would have consequences to pay for once they were done fighting. I finally reached my room and slammed the door shut locking it afterwards.

"Get out here!!" He yelled through my door. I flew towards the direction where my bed was suppose to be and landed safely on a pillow and some blankets.

I hid under the blankets pressing them on my ears attempting to drown out the sounds of bottles breaking and screams coming from downstairs. My 7 year old mind couldn't comprehend what was going on. I was shaking badly. I heard my mother screaming at the top of her lungs I heard a guitar sound and another bottle braking.

Then silence.

I couldn't hear anything. For a second I thought I was pressing so hard that my ears stopped working. I snapped softly by my ear making sure I could still hear something. When I heard a faint cry I curled up in a ball and held the blanket to my ears tighter than before.

There was a knock on my door. I barley heard it because of how much pressure I was putting on my ears. I slowly uncovered my head and stared at the old beaten down wood door that was the entry way to my own space.

I heard another soft whimper, it sounded like my mother. "Alyssa please open your door. Its mommy." I slowly crep off my bed and tip toes to my door. I gripped the small silver handle when I heard sniffle. "He's gone sweetie. He won't bother us anymore."

She gestered for me to come out of my room. I didn't understand what she meant by that sentence but I nodded anyways and followed her downstairs. I could just imagine what it looked like.. Dad laying unconscious on the couch mumbling incoherent things in his sleep. Bottles strewn everywhere, another Guitar broken.

Great now Daddy will come home with another one using all of our money.

But I've been trying to help too. I got a job from Mrs. Hanning, a lady down the street she always gives me a brand new dollar bill whenever I walk her dog.

Mommy says it helps a ton with what I'm doing but sometime I think it just for Beer that Dad buys at the Market. But mom says different.

When I reached the stairs I didn't see dad laying on the couch. But I did see bottles I didn't see a guitar but I saw half of one. The sight of the broken instrument always makes me sad. I loved when Father would play songs for me.

But now his favorite acoustic is in broken pieces all over the floor. The furniture was everywhere. "Help Mommy clean up please." My mom said after I took in my surroundings. We walked down the carpet covered stairs onto the living room floor.

I bent down and picked up a few shards of glass from the carpet. I then moved on to a full bottle of beer handing it to my mother.

She told me to throw it away so that I did.

Once we were finished cleaning the living room, the dining room and the kitchen all look normal but with less stuff all over the floor.

I finally asked the question that was bugging me since I walked downstairs. "Where's Dad?" My mom stiffened then turned to look at me. "He's gone and won't be living with us. And Alyssa while were on the subject, you are never allowed to play the guitar, or taste Alcohol. She said firmly.
