(Y/N) POV

I was next to the helm with a telescope and a nautical sextant for celestial navigation. The moon was at it's highest right now, and the light made it almost impossible for me to tell our location. The man on the wheel was Ajax, a friend I made.

(He rarely smiles)

It's been a week since I have graciously accepted the offer made by Captain Mila and First mate Sylvia. Ajax and I are similar in many ways. We prefer the company of books, we prefer to use our brains instead of our muscle (which in Ajax's case, doesn't have any), and prefer to stay away from trouble, which the rest of the crew seems to enjoy. Ajax and I met while we were cleaning the halls.

Five days ago

A group of pirates whom I remembered during the fight were picking on Ajax for him being an intellectual. I was going to leave it alone, anybody who won't defend themselves regardless of being strong or weak won't have me backing them up. I then hear something unexpected.

Ajax: "I keep telling you Neanderthals to leave me alone! You do nothing but waste the oxygen around me."

Pirate 1: "Well, haven't I told you to stay out of my way? Also, I learned what oxygen is, dumbass. You breathe the stuff."

The idiot actually looked proud of himself.

Ajax: "Well you certainly aren't using it for your brain."

This sets the group off.

Pirate 2: "He's way too serious, maybe we should cut a smile."

(Y/N): "I think not . . ." They all turn to look at me. They remember, good. "Go away."

They all scamper away. Ajax looks at me and deeply exhaled. That situation stressed him out more than he lets on. After he calms down he looks at me straight in the eye and extends his arm for a handshake. I take it.

Ajax: "Ajax . . ."

(Y/N): "(Y/N). Pleased to meet you."

Ajax: "Same, and my thanks."

Present time

After that day, whatever spare time we have we trade knowledge. He teaches me the ship and all the know-how. I teach him martial arts and train him to be more of a fighter. This mutual agreement made us friends. All of the crew have roommates. Upon special request, Captain Mila allowed us to bunk together and have the same jobs. Once in a while we separate just so we don't become dependant of each other. Tonight was a calm one. I look through my telescope to see if I can find anything of interest. As I am looking I see a light, but as I begin to examine it one of the light dies out. Luckily, the moonlight allows me to see the outline of a ship. I did a soft shout to the few men on board.

(Y/N): "Men, eyes to the north-west. A frigate, probably belongs to the Romeans."

They all struggle to find it. But they do see it eventually and put out all the lanterns. Everyone but me and Ajax went to wake the Captain and her crew. After a few minutes, pirates start to pile on to the deck. Captain Mila and Sylvia walked up to me. They look extremely tired.

Mila: "How's it looking out there (Y/N)?"

(Y/N): "Well, Captain, the frigate seems to be lacking it's crew right now. They are all probably asleep. They most likely haven't notice us for their side cannons are covered. We attack now, we would have the advantage."

Mila: "Hmmm, what could we do to minimize casualties?"

(Y/N): "We take a small group on a rowboat to the ship and silently take out the skeleton crew. Then we give a signal of dousing and igniting the lanterns. Then what you do is board the ship, the enemy will not have a chance and they will know it, most of them will surrender before it begins."

Mila: " . . . Okay, take a small group, 2 boats worth and take over the ship. We will await your signal."

I nod and begin the operation.

Sylvia POV

I understand that she has feelings for him and all, but this is getting out of hand. I've seen her favor him over the crew, and (Y/N) is too oblivious to even notice.

Sylvia: "Mila. May I talk to you for a moment? Somewhere private."

Mila: "O-of course."

We go to the helm to find Ajax was the only one. The boy is loyal so I trust him. But just in case.

Sylvia: "Boy, everything you hear will not leave your mouth understand?"

Ajax: "Aie ma'am, my mouth will be locked tighter than an asexual virgin nuns beef portal."

Sylvia: " . . . Ok . . . Now Mila . . ."

Mila: "Is something wrong?"

Sylvia: "Yes, I know you have feelings for (Y/N)," Mila was struggling to stay composed, so I was right. "but you can't keep putting him in favor. Now before you say anything, yes you do. I am not one to judge your love life, hell maybe he's the one but it is unprofessional as a Captain to have favorites."

Mila: "You have feelings for him too!"

Sylvia: "No, I don't. I don't just fall for someone I just met for a week. I learned my lesson with Ryssev. I love you sis, not him, so I want you to be careful. But one more thing, if I notice you favoring him over the rest of the crew again, I'll toss him over with his hands and feet tied, understand?"

I would too, and she knows it. I like him as a friend, I respect his instincts and intelligence. That isn't enough to stop the crew from planning a mutiny though. If they realize that the Captain is favoring a new recruit over them, they will be enraged and I can't just keep killing my men. Mila gave me a nod.

Mila: "I . . . I understand. Do you really think he would like me back?"

Ajax: "If I may ma'am."

Mila: "Go ahead."

Ajax: "You should just ask him, he's good people. The worst that'll happen is he rejects you but that is it. I'm sure nothing will change afterwards. Just remember that you will have to deal with the crew and he will have to deal with your little fan club."

Oh yeah, Mila and I have gathered quite a group of people worshipping our beauty. Weird.

Mila: "I-I will keep that in mind, thank you."

We watch the row boats go out to the enemy frigate, hoping that they will be successful.
