Waking up in the hospital, I looked around to see my mom and dad sitting in two dark blue chairs next to my bed. They had their hands locked together as my father held the bible in his other hand. Looking at them through squinted eyes, I could see the worry lines on my mom and father's forehead. They never had to deal with something like this because I wasn't that bad child that defied their parents and always stayed in trouble. Yes, I did things that every teen does that would worry their parents, but never nothing like this. My parents had always been special to me, so seeing them like this was making me sad and even more depressed.
I couldn't help but feel like my parents worked too hard and made sure I had it all just for me to end up in a situation like this.
My mother was an amazing woman who taught at Bammel Elementary school, she was a wonderful teacher and even though she didn't have to, my father gave her the choice to retire, and she did just that.
My father had owned his own car dealership and had always done what he had to do for our family. They had always taken good care of me and made sure that I didn't want for anything. When I didn't go back and finish my last year in college, I could tell that it hurt them a little, but they still supported my decision. I was their only child, so any time I hit a bump in the road, they would worry. My mom was very beautiful and angelic; she had this light golden skin that sparkled even at night with this natural long hair that flowed down her back. My mother was a very petite woman who never really gained weight. My father was a very slim built man with a bald head; he had this dark chocolate skin which after you mixed the both of them together, you would get me.
Being that they were too busy praying, they hadn't noticed that I was now up.
Clearing my throat, while trying to do some type of hand movement so that I could get their attention to let them know that I was now awake.
After getting them to notice me, they jumped up very quickly and rushed to the side of the hospital bed.
"Oh my God, honey, are you ok?" my mom questioned as she rubbed my head.
"Yes, how are feeling? Your friend told us she found you passed out," my father caught me off guard with that because I knew Jhazlyn knew the truth.
My father kept scanning my body from head to toe, which I knew he was trying to find anything out of place on his sweet baby girl.
Hearing how concerned they were for me caused a flood gate of tears to pour out, and only I knew the real reason behind them. I was tired of hiding the real truth from them. Everything in my body wanted to blurt out and tell them, but I just couldn't do it. I felt like they would be disappointed in me. I was actually thankful that Jhazlyn didn't spill the beans, which kind of caught me off guard because she had finally had her chance to tell on Lee. Why didn't she tell? I wondered to myself because I knew she hated Lee so much that it would give her pleasure to throw his ass in jail.
"Stop crying, darling. Everything is going to be okay," my dad stated as he grabbed my hand, bringing it up to his lips and placing a kiss on it.
As my dad placed kisses on my hand, it reminded me of how much of a daddy's girl I was, and how he treated me like a queen. I don't even know how I ended up stuck in a relationship like this after being raised by a man like my father, and in a household where my mother was wined and dined. My father cherished the ground she walked on. My mother and I only got the best of the best. Now I feel like I'm stuck with a guy who doesn't care if he kills me or not. He doesn't treat me like a queen, but more so like a servant.
"Are you hungry, baby?" my mother asked with this look of worry sketched across her face.
I wasn't really hungry, but the look that my parents were giving me was breaking my already broken heart. I couldn't take it, and I needed some space, even if it was only for a couple of minutes.
