"hello!" says lisa, smiling wide, waving to the little girl in front of her who looked so lost.

"hi," jennie said, lowering her head, a sign of her being shy.

"are you the Kim's daughter? jennie? i'm lisa! you're the family that just moved earlier right?" lisa cheerfully walked closer to jennie with no hesitations.

"uh, yes. how'd you know?" jennie slowly looked up to lisa and saw her smiling widely, showing her perfect teeth.

"i'm your neighbor, we live across each other!" lisa laughed, and jennie loved it. she would love to hear lisa's laugh again so she decided to befriend her, and soon they're best friends.

"come," lisa held jennie's hand and walked until they reached a large area behind the mini-mountain sand lisa made.

there they played and eventually got closer.

the clock hits seven pm, it was getting dark and all their visitors and gatecrashers started to go, as the birthday celebrant walked them out.

"thanks for coming," jennie said, standing still by the gate, waving goodbye to the people who came, gatecrashers or not.

jennie walked back inside their house after sending off the people.

"mom, thank you. you didn't have to do this, it'll only cost us plus you only got tired by calling all those people to come,"

"you're welcome, sweetie. i have to, because your birthday is an annual celebration, especially it's your sixteenth birthday, so why not? plus, i have extra savings, don't worry, dear."

jane, jennie's mom, cupped her daughter's soft cheeks and pulled her for a hug.

"uh, mom?" jennie said, pulling back from the hug and looked at her mom in the eyes.

"yeah, you may go, say hi for me alright?" jane replied as if she was able to read jennie's mind. i mean, that's her own daughter, how can she not know her?

"thanks, i will."

jennie kissed her mom's cheek before stepping out to meet her friend.

friend?

"here!" jennie turned her head, looking for the owner of the voice.

on top of a mini-mountain made of sand, there she saw lisa, waving at her, grinning from ear to ear.

jennie walked towards lisa slowly. and when she reached the foot of their mini mountain, lisa stretched her arms, reaching out for jennie and jennie gladly took it as she carefully climbed and sat beside lisa.

"happy sixteenth birthday, bud. you've been on earth for sixteen years now," lisa hugged the girl beside her, comforting herself with the girl's warmth.

"lol thanks," jennie said lowly, rubbing her hand on lisa's arm around her, as she blushed.

"i don't want to let go," lisa said, tightening the hug as she buries her face on jennie's neck.
