Prompt 13: In which a character has to deal with the consequences of said all-nighter
Extra: In which a character has someone paint/draw them
Annah had awoken to noise— a lot of yelling, running around, and heavy things being thrown. "W-what's going on?" She rubbed her eyes as she sat up. "Dib-shit over here turned off my alarm last night! We're all gonna be late to school!" Amanda yelled, smacking Leo's head. "Ow!" Annah shot up, and instantly regretted it because she got dizzy and her eye-sight blurred. Someone steadied her then let go.
"No! Let me use the bathroom!"
"There's only three in the house and Tyson and Paige are using the other two!"
"What's taking that boy so long?"
Annah was in no time racing around like everyone else. She snatched her bag of clothes and went for her school uniform. She ran to the guest room and shut the door. What no one knew was that the guest room had a bathroom connected to it. She hurried as she took a shower, then she dried off quickly and put on her uniform. She ran down stairs shouting, "There's another bathroom in the guest room!" Teens pushed her out of the way as the sprinted up the stairs, hollering and yelling.
"Yeesh," she said to Leo, "why didn't they just go home to get ready?"
Leo shrugged, "Maybe some of their parents are home and would ask why they aren't at school. Or maybe some of them live too far to walk."
"Oh. Are you done getting ready?"
"Yeah."
"Wanna walk to school together?"
Leo hooked their arms together. "Yeah."
They walked to school without telling the others. Once they got there, they put their bags that held their sleeping clothes in their lockers. They ended up being late, like Amanda said they would, and sluggishly walked off to their first periods. "Annah? Why are you so late?" Ms. Atlas asked. It was unusual because Annah had never been late before. Annah slouched in her seat. "I, uh," she paused to yawn, "over-slept." That much was true. She wasn't about to let the teacher know that she went to a sleepover the night before and tried to pull an all-nighter with her friends and her friend's friends.
"All right, guys. I wanna hear your rough drafts on the essay. Who wants to go first?" Everyone shied away at the sentence. Annah, however, was scared to death that her teacher would end up picking people, thus picking her at some point. She was scared shitless because she didn't even have the first sentence to the essay. She had completely forgot about it, and knew that if she was called on, she would have to completely wing it.
"Really? No one? Okay, Brandon, you're up."
Annah sighed happily as everyone else except her got called. Ms. Atlas wanted them to change a lot of things, like how they worded sentences and suggested that they used more descriptive words. "Annah," Ms. Atlas called, "your turn." Annah visibly shivered and looked at the clock. Two minutes before class ended. She would have to stall til then because winging it, she thought, was deffinetly out of the picture. If she did so, Ms. Atlas would know for sure that she did nothing.
Annah took her time getting to the front of the classroom. When she did, she pushed the podium to the front of the classroom and smiled at her classmates. She waved at them then looked at the time once more. Just a few more seconds...
"Hey, I'm Annah Reid. I'm doing my essay on the great Roman city of—" The bell rung, cutting off her and winged-out 'essay'. She was officially glad that she stalled. She acted like she was upst about not being able to go. "It's okay, Annah. I'll make sure you go first tomorrow." Annah faked a smile at Ms. Atlas. "Thanks." She drew out the word, walking over to her bookbag.
