Prompt 18: In which a character visits a place they're never been to before

Tuesday was somewhat of a better day for Annah. She had been acquaintanced with the other teens that joined in on the Pledge at lunch on Monday. Jerry, Alyssa, Monique, Tyson, Megan, and Tiffany were the names of them. They didn't sit together at lunch like Annah thought they would. She was secretly hoping they could form some sort of group, like "The Weirdos" or "The Untouchables".

She ended up sitting with the fangirls, like she always did, and they talked about characters and OTP's. In short, Annah wasn't very pleased with this. Sure she liked these girls, but she didn't really know what was going on. What was 'Percabeth' and 'Destiel'? Why were there fanfictions for Peter Hayes? What the heck was a 'Hufflepuff'? Just because she read certaint books and watched certain shows that had fandoms, it didn't mean she was in these fandoms. And she definetly didn't read every book that had a fandom.

After school, Annah met up with Amanda and they talked by the basketball court for a short while before Amanda dragged Annah to the skate park.

"Hey, Annah." Amanda greeted with a head nod.

"Hi."

"What's up? Heard Mr. Elgar snapped at his fifth period just because they weren't drawing the temples right." Annah raised her eyebrows. She loved art but hated Mr. Elgar. He was the worst teacher she ever had. He was an old, bitter man that should be, at the least, 105-years-old.

"Really? Ugh, he's such a pain. Always yeling at us." Annah stated.

"I know right?" Amanda nodded as she said this, looking off into the distance.

"So-"

"Hey, Ann, you wanna go meet up with Leonidas?"

Annah brought her eyebrows together. "Leonidas?" To herself, she asked, What kind of name is that?

"Yeah, but he likes it better when people call him Leo or Leon."

"Oh? Um, sure? Where is he?"

Amanda shrugged. "He should be at the skate park by Walmart. He usually heads over there as soon as school let's out."

"Oh. Um, I don't really think I should go." Annah said awkwardly. She didn't even know this guy, and it would be weird to just stop by to vist a stanger.

"Oh, c'mon. That's how you make friends. More friends. Don't you want more friends?" Annah thought about the question and realised that she did want more friends. Hanging out with the fangirls just worked to confuse her since she wasn't one herself. "I guess so."

"Alright, come on then. Off to the skate park we go." Amanda grabbed a hold of Annah and lead her to their destination. The walk to it was short, seeing as Walmart itself was only two blocks away. The whole time on the way there, the girls talked skateboarding and bicyle riding. Annah had only ever tried to use a skateboard once and had a general fear of them since then. She just couldn't imagine herself getting on one again and was hoping no one would try to make her.

"Leo! Hey, Leo!" Amanda calledout. A boy with ginger colored hair grinded on a rail before stopping in front of the girls. "Sup?" He smiled at them kindly. "Leo, meet Annah. Annah, meet Leo." Amanda introduced the two and watched as they exchanged greetings and shook hands. "So, is this your first time here? I've never seen you here before, but I'm not here everyday, soo..." Leo trailed off. "Oh, no. Um, this is my first time here." He grinned. "Cool, you here to skate?" Annah looked at Amanda and then shook her head. "No, no. Amanda made me come here. I-I don't even know how to." Annah admitted, nodding at her words.

"Well do you wanna try?" He asked with raised brows, a faint smile on his lips. Leo had a thing for teaching people how to skateboard. "She'd proabaly rather ride a pennyboard." Amanda stated, picking at her nails. Leo rolled his eyes at his friend and turned back to Annah, who shook her head. "I don't like skateboards." His eyes widened and his eyebrows shot up, he looked surprised and shocked. "Are you sane? Oh my gosh, your soul must be black." Annah laughed and joked, "Black and sparkly."

"Have you ever even been on one before?" He asked. "Yup. And she fell on her ass trying to do some trick. I forget which one." Amanda answered for her. Annah sighed and nodded. Leo held back a grin.

"Well that's no valid reason to not like skateboarding. Just give it a second try." He smiled crookedly at her, allowing her to see braces she hadn't noticed before. "No thanks. I don't really want to take another risk." Amanda rolled her eyes and flicked Annah's shoulder. "Oh, please. You're just afraid of falling on your ass. Trust me, you won't end up like Spongebob in that one episode..." Amanda went on to explain said episode, noting how Spongebob locked himself inside of his house and his good friends Sandy and Patrick tried to get him out. She even sang the song 'Indoors' for extra effect.

The three teens then left the park, talking and joking around. It was four something going on five. "Err, I have to get home or my parents are gonna go crazy." Annah told them. "Okay. Bye, Ann." Amanda gave Annah a high five and Leo waved 'bye' at her as she made her way to her house.

Neither of her parents turned out to be home.

"Annah, come help me with my homework." Her younger brother, Jamie, whined. He was a fourteen-year-old lazy couch potato. He hated school and anything that required him leaving the house, let alone the comfort of his room. But their mom made him do his homework in the living room because he once didn't do his homework until the morning time, and he ended up being late for school.

And Annah was confused about him asking her for help, though. Although no one else was home, it still came as a shock to her. They almost never talked to eachother unless they were teasing each other of were forced to.

She walked up to him and looked over his shoulder, looking at his homework. He had a long reading passage in front of him. "It's a 19th century British work of fiction; I searched it up." Annah patted his back. "You're all on your own, J." He pouted and began whining about how long and hard it was. "I thought you liked them long and hard?" Annah teased before sauntering off to her room with a smirk.

"That was so uncalled for!"
