We arrived in Paris, around the same time my dad started getting these calls that he had to leave the room for.
I stretched out on my bed and awaited for a call that would never come from one of my closest friends.
But i guarantee my dad wasn't calling me.
I flipped over to grab the remote and turned it on the YouTube setting.
I smiled and thought throw back as Connor Frantas old O2L video showed up. It was his first video, back when he had a bieber cut and ariozona stashed like drugs in his college dorm room.
I couldn't refuse to watch it. I pressed play as my dad walked in forcing me to turn it off.
He sat on the edge of the bed and exhaled very dramatically.
The way most parents do when they just found out devastating news.
Oh crap.
"W-what h-happened." I stuttered scared of the answer.
"That was my boss."
He didnt have to say anymore i already knew we were moving.
"When." I sighed.
"Tomorrow."
"Will we be back by my birthday?" I asked secretly praying.
"That's the thing, she wants me stationed there as an author, permanently."
I flopped back down.
"Im sorry Mi, but I'm not in charge of this."
"So they just throw you around like a toy? Can't you say something? Can't it wait two weeks? Until at least after my birthday?" I was furious.
"Hun I'm sorry but unless you don't want a place to live, or clothes, or everything you have, we dont have a choice!"
"I didnt realize your job was more important than your daughter." I stormed out and hopped on a rental scooter.
I drove around Paris taking pictures of sights and vintage things.
Photography and music was my therapy, and I was calm with Coldplay flowing through my ears and a camera in my hand.
"You look into what your doing. Come to Paris often?" A British voice said.
"Joe Sugg, I never thought I would see you in person, or even standing in front of me." I stood up from my position in front of a bench.
"You caught me." He held his hands.
Even if he was four years older than me, was it wrong to have a crush?
He was ome of my favorite youtubers.
"So what brings you to Paris?" I asked, surprised I was actually having a genuine conversation with the famous youtuber.
"Zoella has some work to do and I decided I would come along, you know, meet some fans." He smiled.
"Thatching roofs?" I laughed.
He kicked at the gravel.
"Haha no. Did you uh, wanna get some coffee? I found this cafe down the street that has the best doughnuts, I'd bet any amount."
"Getting a cup of Joe with Joe, is this what you do to all your fans?" I smirked jokingly.
"I have a feeling your more than a fan." He winked.
"Well I havent tried a 'doughnut' before so any doughnut I try now is bound to be the best, so no bet, but i cant say no to a cup of coffee." I smiled packing up my camera and wrapping my coat around me in the crisp early march air.
I was on a coffee date with Joe Sugg.
He held open the door to the small coffee shop as a tiny bell rung, we walked in.
"Its so cozy in here." I smiled taking off my coat.
He gracefully took it and hung it on a coat rack.
"Do you know what your gonna get?" He asked.
"Just my usual Mocha." I smiled.
He ordered and got two powdered doughnuts along with the hot beverages.
We sat down and talked.
"So do you live in Paris?" He asked.
"To be honest, I don't know where I live, I'm dragged around by my dad all over the world, mostly Europe, so we're never in the same place for more than a month."
"So that means I'll only see you for a month, then." He said sipping his drink.
"I leave for America tomorrow. That's actually why I decided to get out. M dad just gave me the news that we're leaving tomorrow, when he promised me we would stay in Paris until after my 18th birthday-"
"You're 18." He said wide-eyed.
"In two weeks."
"Oh, heh.'
"Sorry."
"Why are you apologizing? Your age in no way lessens my affection."
I blushed. As soon as his eyes caught the redness in my cheeks his turned a near shade as well. I giggled.
"Try the doughnut."
I took a bite as flavor rushed to my mouth.
My eyed widened as my brain tried to savor the sugary goodness.
He smiled.
"Delicious isn't it." I nodded.
He laughed. "You seem so innocent, you travel the world and yet the only thing you havent tried, is a doughnut."
"I believe it's a baguette but who trusts menus." I playfully rolled my eyes.
"Tis a doughnut." He joked.
I checked the time. 5:02.
"Oh wow my dad is probably worried sick. I should really get going." I placed a 10 on the table.
"No I am not letting you pay, think of it as a birthday gift, really take this." He held up the ten.
"I couldn't." I said holding my hands back.
"Take it."
"At least let me pay the tip." I begged.
"No."
"I'm leaving a tip one way or another."
"Fine, but dont come calling me if you find out i secretly payed already without you knowing." He winked.
"Joe!" I placed a look of annoyance on.
"Thank you, this was fun."
"I am truly glad you're not some obsessed fan who screamed at the sight of me, would it be weird if i asked for your number."
"It would. But i dont see why you can't have it any way." I smiled writing down my number and handing it too him.
"I'll text you." He smiled.
And with that, he left. And I rode to the hotel with a smile on my face.
My first friend was someone who used to be a face on a screen.
I had a feeling he would be more than a friend soon.
