I've known since I was three that werewolves existed. My grandparents were werewolves, and so are my parents. My father is the Alpha and my brother Caleb would soon follow his footsteps. The oldest male always became Alpha after the current Alpha died or became 60, it just depended on what happened first.
Being the Alpha's daughter meant if I didnt find my mate by the age of 18 I would be married off to the Beta or neighboring Alpha who hasnt found his mate, or has lost it. I planned for none of that to happen. I would find my mate soon, I HAVE to find my mate soon with only 6 months till my 18th birthday if I dont find him my grandfather will pick someone for me.
It's my senior year and I've been working on graduating with honors harder then ever the past five months. My best friend Alex met me at the door of the pack house. "You ready to head out?" He asked taking my backpack from me. Being the Alpha's daughter means that everyone walks on eggshells around me, even Alex but only while we're in the pack house. Once we exit those doors he tosses my bag back to me and chuckles. "I've told you a thousand times, you dont have to take my bag from me." I open the door to my white jeep and throw it in the back seat while Alex climbs in the other side.
"I know but I feel like the one time I don't take your bag your dad will appear and demand I run laps or something as punishment. " Alex hates running laps. He's the only wolf I know who I have to drag to get to go train. Don't get me wrong he's brilliant, he could defuse a bomb in under 10 seconds he just hates physical excerise, and its not like his body says he has to have it. He's 6'3 with a muscular build and brown hair with green eyes. To say he's not gorgeous would be a lie. He does small acting jobs on the side of pack work and most of the guys make fun of him but he's never been one to care. I've known him since I was in kindergarten. His father is the Beta and his older sister Analee is Caleb's mate. They're actually getting married next month.
Your mate doesnt become a realization until you turn 16, and my father always thought Alex would be mine. But it didnt work out that way. My "friend" Gabby is his mate, and it took me a long time to come to terms with it, we had made a deal if neither of us found our mates we would choose each other in the end. So now I'm alone, until I can find mine.
Once a male becomes 16 he has two choices, one is to go off to train for two years on being a warrior, the second is to stay, finish high school and learn careers that the pack needs to help survive among humans. Many of the boys choose the warrior path but not Alex, he didn't want to take wolves down, he wanted to protect our pack from Hunters our only true threat. Friday is when the males come back from training so there will be a large party at the house that night, and no school Monday.
We climb out of my jeep and head into the school, Gabby comes running and flings herself at Alex who catches her spinning. Gabby lives at her parent's house and not at the pack house, so they hardly see each other, her mother is human so they felt more comfortable at their own home, no one objects but they have their own room at the house if they change their minds. She is a sweet girl she barely gets to come to pack parties but she tries. Her parents want a little more control over her life then she gives them and they don't let her out much. She's about 5' and has long carmel hair. Her eyes are brown and large, she's got quite a few curves and she always wears clothes a little too tight but I have never heard her say a mean thing about anyone. So that makes her great in my book.
After lunch I have my music appreciation class. It's the only class I really like. Alex happens to have this class with me which is an added bonus, and it's probably a good thing that he is or I wouldn't make it through with all the girls that are trying to suck up to me lately. Today's lesson is on Bach and how he relates to todays modern music. My teacher Mr. Beasley, a fellow wolf, is going on about his great works and how he believes today's music doesnt stand up to what Bach was wanting us to be able to create. I agree with him to some extinct but I also feel like we have some pretty great artists in our time. Alex being Alex likes to argue with him till Mr. Beasley is red in the face and screaming at him.
