8 Months Later

.
"Mom, Dad, where are you, I need a ride"

It's been 8 months since I became deaf and I have been going to a class to learn Sign Language. I've learned to cope with it and my parents have been very supportive, it's nice knowing I'm not going through this alo-.

Something doesn't feel right. I see my parent arguing down stairs.

"Can we -- work this out", my dad yelled with tears in his eyes and down his cheeks.

That is from what I can make out from lip reading at this angle. But I can barely see my mom's face. But I can see some suitcases right next to her.

"Mum, Dad what's going on?", I said as I quickly walk down the stairs.

Mum looked straight at me with a fake apologetic face and said "Darling, take a seat", as she placed her hand on mine.

"Honey, I'm so proud of you for being so strong for the past 8 months. But I cant handle it anymore, I need to leave."

"What are you talking about mum, to where. Were we not good enough for you!". I was infuriated

"No sweetie it's not like that"

"Then tell me mother what is, please enlighten me"

"I can't stand it, the fact that you are deaf now. I hate it"

"That's Bullshit Mum, WE didn't have a choice! It was either 5 years or forever,  and 5 years sounds like a pretty good deal to me", I said as tears roll down my cheeks like a waterfall, along with my disappointment.

"Honey, I just wasn't ready --"

"Ready for what! Did you ever think that I don't like being deaf. Did you ever think of this would ever happen to me, of all people. I had to sacrifice a lot of stuff too. I had to sacrifice my love of music, and I had to put  my dream of becoming a musician on hold. And use the fucking subtitles just to watch the telly, quit football and lacrosse as TEAM FUCKING CAPTAIN, my so-called friends don't want to hang out with a deaf girl. And I had give up my independence, my freedom. See it's not just about you. If you can't you hang, then there's fucking the door", I said pointing to the door with rage laced in my voice.

"Sweetheart, You don't really mean tha_"

"Cut the act, I know your lying". If my looks could kill, she would be in her grave. "And I don't see why not, you're already packed"

"Alright, have fun with you life". With that she slapped my face and walked out of our lives forever. Leaving my dad and I to rot.
