Tony Stark came down the stairs of the Stark tower into an elegant living room. Tonight he was restless, careful not to make a sound, he crept to the grand piano that sat in the middle of the room. Everyone usually, assumed it was for show, no one knew he could play besides for first and only seven people he had ever trusted. Only one of those seven people were still alive. Tony sat down lifted the lid and began to play, he started singing too, by now it was just basic instinct.
"You bought a star in the sky tonight." The note on sky was longer than the rest, his voice in perfect harmony with the piano, his fingers gracefully pushing down on each key. It was just like. When he had first learned to play so long ago from his sister, May Stark.
"Because your life is dark, and it needs some light." Suddenly, he was nine again his sister had her hand on his, gently guiding his had through the melody that had told his life story for so long.
"You named it after me, but I'm not yours to keep." Then, it was it was that fateful night again, their father was heavily drunk, more so than usual. Howard grabbed his gun and before Tony could react he was thrown against the wall. May ran, pushing herself to save her twin, throwing herself in front of him. Tony flinched as the gun shot rang through the air.
"Because you'll never see that the stars are free" Her lifeless eyes blazing in his memory, Tony let of a sob. That day he had lost his protector, best friend and most trusted ally.
"Tony!" Tony stopped playing. The voice sounded familiar. Out of nowhere there was a hand on his back. Panicking he jumped up starting to hyperventilate.
"Tony! Breathe! It's me, it's Bruce Banner! Your fiancé." Slightly shaking Tony calmed considerably. Bruce, it's Bruce. I'm safe. I'm okay. He is dead now he can't hurt me. Careful not to set him off, Bruce enveloped his boyfriend in a hug, quietly whispering.
"I know, I'm so sorry, you shouldn't have to go through this. If I could I'd go back in time and kill that asshole for what he did to you and her." Holding on to his parter for dear life, Tony let Bruce guide him to the couch. The pare laid there together, Bruce petting Tony's head, while whispering comforting words. The more Tony thought about it this had been the best birthday since his twelfth, the last one she had been alive. An hour later the two geniuses fell asleep, letting their minds turn off for one night. In the morning the Avengers let the sleep, it wasn't often hero's got happy endings after all.
