Ellie and Clementine are sitting and waiting for Marlene to come back with help. Ellie is one year older than Clementine and she's only thirteen. Ellie's only fourteen. And they both hold the key for the cure of humanity.
"When will she showed up?" Clementine was pacing back and forth.
"Soon. I hear a lot of shooting, Clem." Ellie said.
"Yeah. I feel scared about her being killed." Clementine said.
"Me too." Ellie agreed.
Then, the door opened and Marlene slumps to the ground. A man tries to help her out but Ellie and Clementine took out their knives and tried to attack the man.
"Get the fuck away from her!" Ellie yelled.
"Hey!" A woman grabbed both girls.
"Let them go." Marlene cried.
The woman let them go.
"You're recruiting kinda young?" The man asked.
"They're not one of mine." Marlene said.
"Holy shit!" Ellie cried.
"You're bleeding!" Clementine raced towards Marlene's side.
"Don't worry, it's fixable. I got us help...but I can't come with you two." Marlene said.
"Well then, we're staying." Clementine said.
"Clem. We won't get another shot at this." Marlene said.
"Hey-we're smuggling them?" The man asked.
"There's a crew of Fireflies that'll meet you in the Capitol building." Marlene told them.
"That's not very close." The woman said.
"You're capable. You hand them off, come back, and the weapons are yours. Double what Robert sold me." Marlene added.
"Speaking of which, where are they?" The woman asked.
"Back at our camp."
"We're not smuggling shit until I see them."
"That's fine. You follow me. You can verify the weapons, I can get patched up. But these two aren't crossing that part of town. I want Joel to watch over them." Marlene said.
"Whoa, I don't think it's a good idea."
"Bullshit! We're not going with him!"
"Let us stay with you!"
"Ellie. Clementine." Marlene groaned.
"How do you know them?" Clementine asked.
"I was close with his brother, Tommy. Said if I was ever in a jam, I could rely on him." Marlene told the girls.
"Was that before or after he left your little militia group?" Joel asked roughly.
"Damn! Burn!" Clementine thought to herself.
"He left you too. He was a good man." Marlene said.
"Look, just take them to the north tunnel and wait for me there." The woman told Joel.
"Jesus Christ." Joel mumbled.
"They're just cargo, Joel." The woman said.
"The cargo has names!" Clementine hissed, earning looks from both of them.
"Marlene..."
"No more talking, Ellie." Marlene said softly, "You and Clem will be fine. Now, go with him."
"Don't take too long." Joel said to the woman, "And you two-stay close."
Clementine roll her eyes as she leaves the room with Ellie behind her.
"Let's go." Joel told the girls as they glance at Marlene one more time. Then, they leave the room.
