"Are you nervous? High school is so big and you're new here. I can help you with your schedule." She explained to me for the 100th time . She was always worried about me. It was sweet but unnecessary. I sat in her car comfortably. She was a year older than I was. And we had been best friends since I was 4. She was the responsible one while I was the reckless one. She got As while I got Cs. She was the artist while I was the writer. She was a girl next door type of gal while I never had a boyfriend. Not that I needed or wanted one. We lived an hour away from each other before I moved to Greenwood after my parents decided they needed a new house in the middle of my Freshman year. I was excited to go to a new place and start all over. Even if that place was Greenwood High a.k.a the perfect school for people who got straight As.

"Annie, I know you care and everything but it's high school. I'm not going to get killed. So you need to stop worrying okay sweetie?" I asked her.

"Okay, but remember please don't punch anyone. I'm supposed to take care of you." She laughed.

"I won't. Just don't go all soft on me kiddo." I laughed as Annie started to park the car in a spot as far away from the school as she could get.

"Seriously Olivia, you can't punch someone for saying something mean to you." She scolded me.

"Puh-lease. As if anyone would mess with me." I said with a smirk. It was a new school. A new place. I felt a little nervous but i shook that feeling away. I wasn't going to let anyone mess with me this year. I tightly pulled my black leather jacket around myself. It was about 35 degrees and freezing cold. But my jacket always brought me the warmth i needed. I grabbed my black bag and walked up to the front door with my back straight and my head held up high with Annie at my side bouncing up and down with excitement.

"So what do you think? Do you like it? Oh I can't wait for you to meet the gang." she squealed.

I looked around. The hallways were all white. There were red doors. The floor was a red and white checkered print. The walls held black cases with painting, drawings, and trophies. The hallways weren't as crowded. I checked my clock. It was 7:45 and I had twenty five minutes to get to my class. Most kids weren't even at school yet.

"Wow. I was expecting a little less high school music and a little more prison." I stated.

The smile faltered from Annie's lips for a second.

"You don't like it?" she asked me in a confused tone as if I was supposed to like a preppy perfect school.

"It's alright." I responded not wanting to hurt her feelings.

"Yay! I'm so glad you do. Come on let me introduce you to the gang." She squealed once more hugging me.

She led me up one of the staircases making a shark left once we reached the landing and walking straight ahead to group of people standing by their lockers.

"So there's Emily, she's the one with the mad artist skills and she can play any instrument. There's Nick he's the joker of the group and then there's Andrew who is singer. He likes almost every punk band out there and he plays the guitar..." Annie explained to me. I zoned out after she said guitar. I wasn't that interested.

"Okay gang. This is Olivia. She has been my best friend since pre-k and I love her." Annie stated to her friends.

I waved a silent hi giving them a quiet smile. They all seemed nice.

"So this is Andrew." Annie pushed me slightly towards a tall skinny guy with blond hair and amazing blue eyes. They were the color of the sky. Andrew waved at me with a huge smile on his face.
