Bethany drove frantically, weaving in and out of traffic. I was sitting next to the unconscious Cywren when she gasped awake. She grabbed her right shoulder in pain, but se let go and rummaged through her pocket. She brought out a needle that looked like a Stempak but I couldn't be sure. She jabbed it into her upper arm, just below the bicep and pushed the plunger. She sighed in relief and pulled out the needle gently. She then unwrapped the injured arm and inspected it. Some scar tissue in the shape of the wound and some left over blood remained. There wasn't any hole left from the bullet.

A black SUV started firing at us, bullets zipping past our heads. A few made contact with the roll cage of the '57 Bel Air. The rear window exploded with shards as shots from an Uzi rang through it. Cywren was thinking of what to do when I had an idea.

"Use the frag grenades!" I called.

She threw two grenades, one that missed entirely, and one that slipped in the window on the passenger side. The grenade detonated and so did the SUV, the explosion sending it flying over the car and landing directly in front of us. Bethany swerved, causing the massive tires in the back to lose traction. She over corrected and the car went sliding in the other direction. The inside tire bit down, causing the car to flip.

We were all out of the car when the gasoline started poring onto the ground. The hot metal in the engine bay touched the leak and set it ablaze. Luckily Cywren and I weren't in the danger zone of the flames, but the car exploded and pushed us flying across the highway. I rolled and hit my head on a car; the freeway was blocked from the debris. Cywren, however, landed on a piece of metal, it was sticking out of her side. She was gasping for breath. I picked her up gently. She slowly reached into her pocket and pulled out her Jayhawk by the barrel, offering it to me. She then dropped the gun and slipped her Pip Boy off of her wrist, the green display on the section showing her limbs and state of the limbs. It showed that her torso was crippled as well as her head. A big warning glowed on the bottom that read: BLEEDING OUT! SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION NOW! She handed it to me and whispered softly, "Don't try to save me." I was crying with her in my arms because I knew what was going on. I committed myself to get her out of here and back home.

A gunshot nearly blew my eardrums out and blood splattered all over me. Cywren then went as limp as a wet paper. Her face was frozen in an expression of depression and sorrow. I fell to my knees and put my head on her still chest, sobbing. I couldn't see Bethany or Isaac, but I could hear them crying as well. I finally closed Cywren's eyes for her and set her down on the side of the road. I didn't know what to do with the metal in her side, so I left it be.

I got up, my mind focused on one thing and one thing only. I picked up the Jayhawk and Pip Boy, pocketing the gun and slipping on the watch-like device. I stood back up a broken and very angry man. "Let's go kill this fucker!" I growled.
