JUNGKOOK POV
he slept that night.
all night.
he didn't wake once.
the question as to why this was was still to be perceived, but he slept, through the storm he read about when flicking through his phone in the morning.
although, he still felt as though he had encountered a storm; one unattainable to anyone but himself, one anyone else would be in susceptible to.
the fact that he slept had forced him to remember why he refrained from sleeping to begin with, a reason he had hoped would divest him of things that provoked harm coming to others.
it was dangerous, really, but that's what made it enthralling.
he thought this, staring at the early sun, having gotten dressed and idly made breakfast before sitting on his bed and observing the cityscape seen from his window.
he realised, and in hindsight unsurprisingly, that the last few days have been the most he had spoken to anyone for quite some time.
and to start with, he inevitably didnt care.but, he then considered it again.
and then again,
and again,
and again.
and he realised he did care,
he cared because of one person significantly.
he cared because of the various early morning and spontaneous run-ins.
and he cared about times when things came up in conversation that he wouldnt have known had he kept to his own regulations.
he cared because the significant other could make him feel things.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~it was colder this morning.
he could tell from looking out of his window from seeing the condensation gathering in the windows, and the icy film covering the leaves of neighbouring treetops.
he thought about going out, but the whole prospect of leaving the sinfully indulging warmth of the inside and facing the coldness didn't appeal to him.
he thought about maybe taking a tactical trip to the coffee shop and spending a little longer than usual picking a drink, picking a table and sitting for a little longer pretending to ignore others conversations while he shamelessly eavesdropped and offering silent and involuntary responses to their discussion.
he thought maybe he might then run into taehyung.
taehyung.
he had talked to him a few times since the time he joined him for a coffee, enough times he could count on one hand.
he supposed he didnt despise the other.
their conversations of late had a habit of sticking in his mind for longer than he wanted them to, but it wasn't because taehyung was interesting. no. he wasn't interesting.
needless to say, he had to do something to stop him from feeling like the walls were permanently closing in. he picked up his phone, wincing at the bright display that lit up the ceiling of the bright room, then dialed."yoongi? hey."
he rolled his eyes.
"no, im not dying. ""hey, thats not true we spoke, like, 3 days ago."
"sorry, i had some stuff on my mind."
"look do you want to do something today or not?"
"okay. be here in... lets say 20 mins."
"okay. bye."
he ended the call, falling back onto his bed, opening instagram and scrolling through his feed. he had only gotten the app because he felt his friends would actually combust if he didn't give in a little to the new age of technology. he preferred handwritten sentiments, and often found himself staring at old typewriters in thrift store windows.
he wondered what taehyung thought about it. god, he probably contributed.
fuck.
he locked his phone, throwing his phone next to him. why should he care what taehyung thinks?
he doesn't even like him, let alone care about his opinions.
he sat up, crossing his legs just as the doorbell cut through the silence.
"its open!" he yelled, smoothing out the creases in his jeans.
yoongi walked in, grinning at him in greeting.
his toothy smile was soon replaced with a look of disgust etched on his face. "jesus fuck gguk, it smells like you haven't left the house in days. no, weeks. like, no offence man, have you even showered? anyway. we need to get you outside."
he grabbed jungkooks arm, jungkook whined in the process. "wait! what if we get in a car accident and i die? think how bad you'll feel then."
yoongi sighed, pulling him up and out of the room, pulling the door shut with his foot. "don't worry, if a car decides to run us off the road i'll throw my body in front of you like the hero i am. now lets go."
"where are we even going anyway?" he asked begrudgingly, wrapping the thin sweater around his shoulders.
"i don't know. somewhere thats not your apartment. i noticed you don't have any food. buy some fucking food."
"i will, i will. god, are you my mother?"
"yep. thats me. you know, some people even call me daddy." he winked at the younger.
jungkook groaned. "gross. and by people you mean jimin, obviously. its not like anyone else could tolerate you."
"you do."
"yeah, well, i dont have a choice."
"mhm.okay. and hey, who's that guy?"
"what guy, yoongi. theres no guy." jungkook replied, annoyed.
"the one walking towards us at an incredibly fast pace looking extremely happy to see you. is there something youre not telling me?"
"god, no yoongi we're just friends."
"so you do know him. and just friends, hmm? i wasn't aware you had friends." yoongi said, finishing just before taehyung appeared in front of them.
yoongi turned to taehyung.
"hi! whats your name?"
"taehyung!" he replied, grinning at jungkook.
"and tell me taehyung, are you and jungkook here friends?"
"yes! yes. we are, arent we taehyung?"jungkook said quickly, staring pointedly at taehyung.
"right- yes we are. best friends."
yoongi nodded. "alright then. why dont you guys go get lunch, you know, as friends, and i'll go and home and stock up your fridge. and, taehyung, make sure he eats something moderately healthy, a quintessential answer being, like, salad. okay, bye- you kids have fun!"
he turned around, walking quickly back where they came from.
jungkook turned to taehyung. "hey, im really sorry about that. he's a dick. or rather, he likes dick. sorry. i mean, we dont have to go out to lu-"
"no!" taehyung cut him off quickly. "i want to. oohhhh, can we sit at when of those tables where like we're opposite from each other?"
jungkook laughed. "yeah, sure."
taehyung positively beamed. " and... can it be like, a date?"
jungkook dropped his gaze to the floor , a steady, dark blush creeping across his face. "taehyung..."
"no! its okay. you don't have to say anything. its fine. it was worth a shot. lets go."
jungkook grabbed his wrist. "no, taehyung..."
"i'd like that. lets go. as a date."
