'Hello class, I am your new teacher, Mr. Thompson. I will be teaching you Maths. So take out your books and open to page number 73.'
The whole class groaned, some continued to talk and some took out their books including me. 'Class.' Mr. Thompson continued, 'You have been told to take out your books so quit talking and do as you have been told.'
Mr. Thompson seemed not to understand that the class was not so obedient. He looked like he was in his mid thirties and was a burly man.
'Sir, it's the first day, won't you like to first have us introduce ourselves? It's your first day after all.' I looked at Ryder who was smiling at Mr. Thompson and was obviously the person who had just given this waste of time idea. Anyways, it could be fun.
Mr. Thompson nodded totally giving in and we started introducing ourselves. Gabe took extra long doing so. He went on about his interests, what he wanted to become when he grew up and what he was going to wear on this party on Saturday. The class roared in laughter, okay I'll admit, I laughed a bit too.
Mr. Thompson told him to sit down and after a bit more blabbering he did so. When Ryder's turn came, I thought he would do the same but instead he just said a simple, 'My name is Ryder Smith and I love Maths. I am looking forward to be taught by you sir. You seem like a nice teacher.'
Mr. Thompson now seemed like someone who loved being praised.
I just said my name and so did Stacie.
After all the introductions, there were only ten minutes left till the end of class so Mr. Thompson said we could be free. In this time me and Stacie talked about the coming elections for student body president and who should be it. I was looking forward to give my name in the nominations. I had a good social circle so I had lots of chances to win.
We had two separate student body presidents, a boy and a girl. So I was surely looking forward to stand from the girls side.
We talked for the remaining time and also compared our time tables, with Ryder poking his nose again and again of course. After class ended we stood up and I left for my second class which was English. My favourite! I have always had an interest in creative writing and English. And Mrs. Garcia as the teacher made it so much more interesting. She was an old woman with a wise and humorous personality, everyone's favourite I must say.
While I was walking down the corridor, to my English class, I caught sight of Dawn. And she was quite a sight right now!
I rushed towards her, 'Dawn, what happened to you?'
'Me?' she asked, 'Bad dream, very bad dream. I couldn't sleep all night!' She wasn't crying, but her eyes were red and puffy, her hair were tangled and messy, and over all she looked like a mess. 'But why your hair?' I continued, 'Couldn't you do any makeup?'
'You know I hate makeup, and I slept in and was late because last night I was up till 6. So I had no time left to do anything except of changing, and brushing my teeth'
'Lets get you fixed.'
I took her to the washroom, and took out my makeup kit. I wasn't really a heavy makeup applier too but a little mascara and lip gloss wouldn't do any harm, and I still carried some essentials with me anyways.
'Ew Ew Ew makeup! No!'
'Stop overreacting Dawn, it's just makeup,' I rolled my eyes, 'You should've stayed home, you look sick.'
'My mom would be worried.' was her simple reply.
We heard the bell and she said, 'You will be late to class Cheryl, you should go.'
'I am a goody two shoes Dawn, but that doesn't mean I am a bad friend. I need to fix you first. And Miss Garcia will understand.'
'You have English? Same.'
We smiled at eachother, I nodded in satisfaction as I had succeeded in hiding her eye bags and we decided to talk about the dream in break.
Dawn always had a bad dream problem, but it was rare that she looked so messy, she was a person who cares about her appearance, but her anti-makeup behaviour made it impossible sometimes.****************
'Dawn Woods. Cheryl Jones. Why are you girls late?' asked Mrs. Garcia.
I went towards her and made my magic. Being a teacher's pet had its benefits. That included the ease for me to convince the teachers. Also, it made me the first person to come to whenever any of my friends or even people I rarely talk to were in a problem.
We sat in the class next to each other near Samantha who was also in the class. Samantha shot us her famous bright smile and we waved back. Yes, she was one of the walkie talkies, one of the nerds of our group, besides me and Stacie. She fixed her glasses, we took out our notebooks and started drafting the essay given to us.
'Cheryl, what are you writing?' a voice came from behind me.
'Ummmm Aaron?' I didn't even notice him till now, 'Hi.'
'Yeah, me, now tell me what you're writing, I don't get anything in this essay. Like what kind of a topic is 'My Summer Vacations'? Are we in elementary school or something?'
'Its a childish topic, yet you still can't come up with something, eh? And Mrs. Garcia says the topic doesn't matter, what matters is the standard of writing,' I explained.
'Okay, Ms. Jane Austen. Now tell me what you're writing?'
'I'm writing about my summer vacations and you write about yours. Where did you go? Had any fun? Something special?'
'You're no help, nerd.'
'Wow, that's great, because i wasn't planning to help. And by the way are you my friend or a bully? You just called me nerd!'
'Okay okay whatever. I am not a bully, please. I was just teasing,' he said and smirked.
'Stop smirking, Miller!'
'Stop whining, Jones.'
'You need to shut up!'
'You need to help me!'
'Aaron, Cheryl, is there something you'd like to share with the class?' came the voice of Mrs. Garcia.
'Ummm no Mrs. Garcia, we're sorry.' we said and Mrs. Garcia continued her work. Aaron smirked again and I just rolled my eyes. Hey, Aaron is very supportive and kind, it's just that he can be a pain sometimes and can't stop talking and always likes teasing people, oh and that smirk.
