5. Percy Jackson (or any other character--major or minor) betrayal fan fiction
6. Fantasy
7. Thriller
For those of you who are confused and are in need of clarifications regarding the listed genres, we will be giving you a brief description of each genre below.
Romance
For this genre, you will be writing a fan fiction revolving around any Percy Jackson ship. It may be a major ship, such as Percabeth or Solangelo, or minor ships such as Frazel and Jiper. Your ship may also be something you have come up with, such as Percy x Artemis, or any other PJO character. If this is the case, you have to enter your story under the second category. If your story revolves around the romance of a reader or a character you have invented, falling for a PJO character, then you have to classify your narrative into the first category. If romance is only a sub plot of your story, consider classifying it into a different genre.Action and Adventure
If your story revolves around a Percy Jackson character conquering his/her adversaries and defeating them after what seems like an endless battle, then it's perfect to classify your narrative under the action category. If your story is more action-packed than it is romantic, this might be right for you. You might be debating whether your story is classified into action or adventure, and we will give you tips regarding which one to categorize it in.We all know that the Percy Jackson books are jam-packed with action but involve many perilous journeys as well. If action is the most dominant element of your story, then you may choose action as your category. You will know this is the case if you find your character arriving at three or maybe even fewer destinations, but spends most of his time thrusting his sword or dagger at his opponent's chest rather than journeying across ancient landmarks. If your character cruises through these landmarks and is only required to fight when there is a major threat, then adventure might be the paramount aspect of your story. Your character might try to persuade an enemy to surrender what he's in search of rather than fight him immediately. Maybe action isn't very dominant in your story, and your character solves puzzles instead. If this is the case, then your story is best classified under adventure.
If your story equally consists of both aspects, then you should flip a coin and select one at random. Or maybe just classify it into the category with the least entries. (You can always check the list for the number of entries accepted.)
Teen fiction
Is your story about the seven joining Percy at Goode High School? Does your story narrate their troubles and hardships and the insolent teens they encounter? If this is the case, then teen fiction might be the best category to classify your narrative in. We have noticed many Wattpad users have been writing narratives regarding the six other members of the Argo II (or maybe solely Annabeth's) journey with Percy during Goode High School, which is why we are now presenting you the Teen Fiction genre. The rest is pretty much self-explanatory, but if you would like to enquire about this genre, please feel free to ask us stuff in the comments section and we'll put up a reply for you.Percy Jackson Betrayal
Aside from the "seven at Goode" genre, Percy Jackson betrayal stories are the most common narratives on Wattpad. These stories are usually about Percy's friends and family turning against him, and because of this, Percy seeks vengeance. He either retaliates by joining Kronos and confronting his adversaries during war, or by recruiting a team of his own and showing his indignation through scheming a subterfuge against his rivals. If this is the case (or if your story is somewhat relevant to this) then this might be the best genre for you.Fantasy
Maybe your story isn't set in the modern world. Maybe your characters reside in a different realm entirely. Perhaps they live in a world where Pegasi live among them, or where birds with vibrantly-colored feathers soar through a rosy sky. Maybe in your character's world, kings and queens still reign over their kingdoms--and when their children come of age, they will be betrothed to princes and princesses of other kingdoms. If this is the case, maybe your story is best classified under this genre. Perhaps the original Percy Jackson characters reside in their own kingdoms. Maybe they are rivals; maybe they are close companions. Or maybe one of them is to be betrothed to the other, no matter how much their parents loathe each other. And what if your PJO character is a creature of the deep in secret?
Though fantasy isn't a common genre among the Percy Jackson community, we are still awarding those who have written stories under this category. So beam and write away, fantasy lovers!Thriller
Out of all the seven genres, the thriller genre is the least popular one in our PJO community. However, books written under this genre are still important and still deserve to be given an award. Maybe your story narrates your character's brief sojourn to a tourist destination only to find the hotel's guests murdered one by one. Or perhaps there's an assassin lurking among the walls of the character's dwelling and is only waiting for the right moment to thrust a dagger into your main character's throat. Or maybe the character is a detective and has to inspect the possible suspects of the murder. If your story is about a mystery unfolding before the character's eyes, this might be the best category to classify your story in.Deadline for submission: November 20, 2018
Winners will be announced on January 1, 2019. (Hopefully)
