~Jin kyong's POV~
"Jin kyong aren't you excited to see your brother? He's coming all the way to America just to see you." Dani says as I pace my bedroom and play with my hair."Of course I'm excited to see him but, I don't want you to meet him yet. Maybe next time he comes here but not this time." I look in the mirror and stare at her in the reflection.
"Why not?" She asks, obviously not worrying about why she can't meet him. She was on her phone scrolling through something. I don't understand how she seems to care one minute and the next be doing something completely different. She's a strange girl but I guess things like that make you popular here because she's the most popular girl at our school which by default makes me the second most popular because I was welcomed by her friends and after that I was known by everyone. Random people suddenly knew my name and they'd invite me places, suddenly I wasn't that girl who was known as "Jin's little sister" like I was back home in Korea. Here in America nobody knew that I was related to one of the biggest names in k-pop today, and I planned to keep it that way. But with them coming to America, more of their fans are going to be talking about them.
"Hey Jai, what day is your brother coming to America?" Dani asks, using my American name for once.
" three days, why?"
"Because bts are coming here in a few days and I can get the three of us tickets."She turns her phone screen towards me and I take it from her to get a closer look. She was already about to buy three tickets but there's no need for her to get three because my brother will be onstage. "Can you go ahead and hit 'buy' so we can get the tickets now? I'm gonna go get the Doritos." She gets up off my bed and walks out of my room. I make sure she's gone before pressing the back button and buying two tickets instead of three. Dani never pays much attention to detail and she won't know that I changed the number of tickets until it's too late.
-day of concert-
While Dani is in the bathroom putting her makeup on, I stand in front of my full length mirror and stare at myself. I throw my cropped white shirt on with my distressed black skinny jeans. then I shrug my arms into the oversized peach cardigan my host family got me for my birthday, slip my feet into my white vans, and hang my dark grey beanie loosely on the back of my head. I still feel like something is missing, I dig through my accessories box until I find my big circular glasses that I've never worn before. I have no idea why I haven't worn them but I'm loving them with this outfit. "Hey jai, you ready to leave."Dani asks as she walks into my room.
I turn around to look at her, "how do I look?" I ask. Dani usually critiques my outfits before I leave in the morning but no matter what she says I wear what I want anyway. She closes one eye and does an ok hand to symbolize that she thinks I look good. She follows me out to the car and I get in the drivers seat. I absolutely love driving, no matter where I'm going. It's fun and calming to me for some reason.
I drive to the venue where the boys are performing at, I had told my brother that I'd meet with him later because we were coming to their concert. I have to admit that I'm really excited to see my brother and some of the friends I had back in Korea. His band mates were some of the only friends I had because the friends I had once BTS became popular had tried to use me to get closer to my brother. So I had to drop a lot of friends and leave some of them behind because they made fun of my brother or hated his music, I wasn't going to just sit there and let them talk about him like he was a terrible artist like icejjfish or something. That was my brother they were talking about, and it has always been family before anybody else. Family is forever, friends aren't.
After getting our tickets and going to our seats, we wait for the show to start. Since we were in the front row, we got the best view of the performance. Before I know it, the venue is full of bts fans. Some of them were wearing merch and some had signs for the boys to look at while performing. Suddenly the lights turn off and strobe lights start flashing everywhere. The fans in the venue, including Dani and myself, start chanting the boys names. Then The boys appear out of nowhere, but instead of starting with their song "fake love" like they'd normally do, taehyung comes forward and says "we have a special guest in the audience tonight."
"Oh I wonder who it is." Dani says excitedly.
"No idea." I says with a nervous smile on my face, they're obviously referring to me. God I hope they don't make me come on stage.
"She is one of our biggest fan and she's been there for us from day one, literally the first day we were a band." Hoseok continuing taehyung's sentence.
"And today we're going to introduce you to our biggest fan, and my little sister..." Jin says as he joins the boys in line.
Oh god they're gonna bring me on stage.
"Jin kyong!!!!!!" The boys all yell together.
"You're jin's little sister?!?!?!" Dani turns to me and yells over the screams of the crowd.
"Yeah, sorry." I say. I look up at Jin, who has found me somehow and is asking me up on stage. I shake my head and he then starts to chant my name repeatedly, which causes everyone to join in with him, forcing me to join the boys on stage.
"We're starting with fake love" he whispers in my ear while we hug. All the other boys join in on the hug too.
"What does that have to do with anything?" I ask. They all give me that side eyed smile that they've always given me to pressure me into doing something. "Oh no, I am not singing and dancing with you."
"Come on Jin kyong, you're gonna love it. We all know that you know every word to our songs and every move to them too." Tae says, putting a hand over his mouth mic.
"No, I'm not doing it." I protest.
"Who wants to see Jin kyong join us in our performance?" Namjoon asks the crowd, which goes wild at the thought of me performing with them, I have no idea why though, I haven't performed with my brother in years. My phone vibrates with a text from someone. I pull it out my pocket and look at the screen. It's a text from dani:
Do it Jai, this is your chance to shine just like your brother!
The text was what made me decide to do it. As soon as I agree to perform with them, namjoon is putting a mic that hangs beside my mouth on me. I suddenly regret agreeing to this.
-after the performance-
"You did great Jin kyong!" Namjoon yells once we're backstage. "You have to perform with us again."
"I have to admit that was really fun." I reply as I take the mic off. "But I might not do that again for a while."
"I think you should." My brother says as he takes the mic I just removed out of my hands. He puts them to the side and hugs me.
"I've missed you oppa." I say as I close my eyes and smile.
"What about me?"Namjoon asks with a look on his face that a child would make if they were ignored by a parent who had just come home from being gone for a few months.
"I missed you too." I let go of jin and walk over to kiss Namjoon on the forehead. I've always had a tiny crush on him but I've taught myself to ignore it.
After hanging out with the boys for a little bit I find Dani and me and her head home.
-at school the next day-
As me and Dani walk into school the next day people start clapping for us. "Why are they clapping." I ask her as we walk in a little bit more.
"Are you serious right now? You're a celebrity now Jai." She smiles at me.
"What are you talking about?" I ask.
She hands me her phone that has a video pulled up on it "the video of you performing with BTS has over 2 million views. You're an overnight sensation Jai." I look up at her with a shocked look on my face.
"Oh my gosh, what have I done?!"
