A Parallel World

A very long time ago, it was said that the Scandinavian gods had built the city of Quimperlé. The first building to have been built was the Castle of Odin and his sons Thor and Loki.

 They lived there for many years until they die. Years passed and centuries also. The castle degraded as time passed and well before the World Wars, the castle disappeared, leaving absolutely no memories, and no any marks (brands) of the existence of Vikings. However, in 1985, a young blond, and beautiful woman, in her 30s, called Arianna, specialized in historical research, found some indications carefully hidden in the city and in places which nobody had to know. These indications were an old sword hidden and half buried behind a rock. Moreover, there was a kind of helmet with horns looking like those of the Vikings.

She made a lot of research, and eventually, she found the place where the castle was built. She returned to it at night because she had the impression to be followed in the daytime. Maybe, because her research were badly seen by the inhabitants of Quimperlé. One evening she went there and when she arrived, she was faced with an immense white deer. The deer was frightened on no account by the young woman and remained to fix with his blue eyes.

 Suddenly, the deer metamorphosed into a young viking. The viking was tall and muscular. Then he addressed the young woman :

- Good evening young lady !

Arianna didn't dare move any more. She didn't understand the fact that a deer had been transformed into a human being. But the worst was that he was a viking, supposed to have died for 500 years. However, she decided to answer him :

- Hello sir...

- What are you doing here ?

- Hum.... I'm specialized in historical research, and I was looking for proofs which could demonstrate that the Vikings really existed. So this the reason I am her tonight. And about you, why are you here and who are you ?

- Are you really interested in our history ? Sorry, my name is Thor, God of the thunder.

- Yes I am !! But I don't understand, you were a deer, and now you are human !! she exclaimed.

- Oh ! It is only a part of our god's powers. And for me it is one more with my hammer !

- All right, but why did you come back here, in our time ?

- Because I've been watching you when you were doing your research, so I've decided to meet you.

- How strange...

Suddenly, they heard a noise coming from the end of the alley in which they were. She did not have time to understand what happened and Thor had caught her arm and she was faced with a spatiotemporal portal. A few seconds later, they had crossed the portal and she closed her eyes. When she felt again the ground under her feet, she opened her eyes again. She recognized at once Asgard, the City of Scandinavian Gods.

- Excuse me , but what are we doing here, exactly ? I would like to go back home.

- I took you with me because someone was coming and that I have to be discreet in your world. Would you like to see Asgard, now that we are here ?

- I think that I don't really have the choice, do I ?

- Yes, you're right !!

Two hours later, the visit ended. However, she had learnt a lot of things. For example, she learnt that Asgard was based on the Tree of the World, Yggdrasil, which contains nine worlds on five levels. Here are those of whom she held names : Asgard; Alfheim : the house of the Elves of Lights; Midgard : the Earth; Jotunheim : domain of the Giants of Ices. At the end of her visit, Arianna was amazed by what she has discovered.

Thanks to this visit, she had had more than proofs of the existence of the Vikings and their Gods, because she met one of them. Moreover, he was the son of the God of the Scandinavian Gods. He is also called the Father of Gods. Thor then spoke :

- I think that now, you can go back home. Nobody should see you going back home by appearing through a spatiotemporal gate.

- Hum, all right, but how do I do to go back home ?

- Let me do it. You will return to where we met.

- Okay, so goodbye !

- Goodbye Arianna, it was a real pleasure to meet you !

- The feeling is mutual...

She closed her eyes, and five minutes later she was in the alley in which she met Thor. The sun began to appear and we could perceive the morning dew on some flowers which were put on the balconies of houses. However Arianna felt suddenly strange, as if she was about to wake up without being really awakened. Then she heard a bell, being familiar to her : it was her alarm clock.
