My blindfold slips from my swollen eyes and I see the city around me burning. Hopes and dreams tumbling like pilots in burning paper airplanes begging mayday. I stand upon a crumbling skyscraper; slowly its foundations melt away into the fire's deceptive arms. Below me large crowds of misery swarm a lone man named Happiness, flakes of his skin flutter in the smoky breeze while his blood splatters onto cold flesh bringing upon it a warm tingling. I feel my stomach churn as I look away.

I look down and see my heart in my soft hands, he is cold and covered in tears and cracks, his stiches and plasters fail to heal him. I nurture him and hug him tightly, hearing beneath my grasp a hard cracking, I immediately loosen my hug and see his tears, he looks at me with two bright black eyes shimmering and shinning within his lake of tears. He sits up in my palms and stares down; his skinny black limbs weaken and fall like puppets whose master has cut them loose. I fall to my knees and synchronize his crying with my own. My blindfold blows with the fiery winds and burns to withering ash that runs to join the chaos of the city in my mind. I look to my left and se-

"You ok?" My mind opens it's eyes, I shake myself back into reality.

"Yes mum?"

"Everything ok sweetie?" She says in her motherly voice.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just thinking about stuff"

"Ok, if you need me sweetie, I'm just downstairs"

"Thanks mum, I love you"

She leaves me. I turn off the lights, sit on my bedside and stare out into the starry sky, patterns of the Milky Way gleaming together in unity. They shimmer and shine allowing their glow to guide my mind.

_______________

"Can't sleep?" I say leaning against her bedroom's doorframe.

She giggles and shows me her smile; "You know what I'm like"

My heart leaps from my chest, his black eyes shine with a golden haze dancing around his pupils. His body clean and polished, a beautiful rose red. His skinny limps flow with elegant care. He runs to my jeans and tugs on them, I stare down at him and he points to her

"Anything you'd like? Some water?"

"No thank you" I move towards the bed and sit beside her.

"Here, give me your arm"

She giggles again "ok?" I grab her arm and begin to move my fingers up and down soothingly. She puts her head back, sinking into her pillow. Her heavy eyelids close.

"How's that?"

"Relaxing" She says drifting away into her dreams. My heart cuddles my hoodie, leaping into its pocket as he begins to snore quietly.

"I uh..."

"Yes?"

"I hope you had a good day today" I allow the darkness of her room to hide my blush.

"I had a wonderful time. Thank you" She says drowsily. A smile forms on her innocent face; I smile back and admire how beautiful she looks.

"I'm really glad to hea-" My words halt as my ears tune into her soft snoring, I smile and lean into her ear.

"Goodnight princess" I whisper and kiss her cheek softly, embracing how warm it feels on my excitable lips.

_______________

I sit up slowly, noticing my blankets in a bundled mess; I lick my lips expecting that warm taste again. I sigh heavily as I realize I'm in my own room. I perform my daily routine lazily, my heart limping behind me. I turn and pick him up, placing him gently on my shoulder, he huddles into my neck and cries, and I feel his tears flowing on my hardening skin.
