Scarlet's POV
Well that was some night. I was homeless and hungry, and just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, these morons show up.

"Hey runt! You lost?" said a woman's voice to Scarlet's left. She turned to see three girls, the one in the middle who was obviously the leader, had spoken first. "I'm Lucy."

"Yeah, she's Lucy." The girl on the left added on.
"I own this territory."
"Yeah, she owns this territory." The girl on the right added on. What was with these girls? Did the other two numskulls have so little brain cells that they couldn't speak for themselves?

"Look, I don't want any trouble, okay?" Scarlet stammered, taking a few steps back.

"Well then today's your lucky day, big nose." Lucy replied rather menacingly. "I'd rip you to pieces but I don't wanna get my hands dirty."
Scarlet gulped. "Get her!"

'Not again!' Scarlet thought. She ran for her life. Luckily she was too fast for them. All she could hear was them complaining behind her. The roads were empty (or so she thought) it was night time after all. Turning the corner, she was too busy looking over her shoulder that she didn't notice a green car speeding towards her. Scarlet's eyes widened before the car hit her, then she fell. The car stopped. She laid there, her heart beating wildly. She then heard the door open, followed by high heels clacking on the pavement.

"Hello?" A woman's voice called. Scarlet crawled out from under the vehicle and looked up. The woman was quite tall and skinny, with long black hair and she was wearing a green dress and black leather gloves for some reasons. She helped Scarlet to stand. Every other human she had interacted with over the last few days had got her into a whole lot of bother, this time would be different.

"What are you doing out here at this late hour?" The woman asked, Scarlet looked at her but didn't say anything. "Don't you have a home?"

Still no answer. "Why don't you come home with me? It's the least I can do."

She took Scarlet's silence as a yes. As she walked to get into the car, Scarlet took note of the number plate. '0verk1ll' it read, hmm, she liked the sound of that. Next to it she noticed a Scarlet sized shaped mark where she had hit the car. Was she really that strong?

The Overkill's house:
Herbert Overkill was in his room, writing computer codes and formulas, when he heard his mother return home. Great. Just what he needed, his mother, who had no idea about him and his nerd stuff, making noise and distracting him. "Herbert!" She called. "Come downstairs!"

"I can't...I'm busy." He replied, concentrating on what he was writing.
"Come on! I've got something to show you!"

God, she was persistent. Herbert groaned before dragging himself downstairs. Upon entering the living room, he noticed a girl sat on the sofa. She had short black hair, green eyes and she was wearing red lipstick. She was also wearing one of his mother's old dresses but had somehow made it look stylish. His mother looked upset when she noticed the look of disgust on her son's face.

Another one of his mother's crazy ideas he imagined? Herbert looked Scarlet up and down. "What's her name?" He asked.
"Not sure. Poor thing hasn't said a word since I found her."

Herbert didn't like this girl one bit. Coming into his house, intruding upon he and his mother's lives, and she didn't even have anything to say for herself. He had to admit, she was pretty, but that's as far as compliments would go. As intriguing as this girl was, she had to leave.

"You know, you don't have to keep doing this! I AM FINE!" Herbert yelled.
"I'm just trying to..." His mother trailed off.

"I don't need help and I certainly don't need a friend!" Herbert turned to go to the kitchen, leaving Scarlet sadly looking down upon herself. She thought this would be a fresh start...why did nobody want her? 'What a rude boy!' She thought to herself.

"Fine, if you don't want her I'll...take her to the police station or something." His mother sighed. "I have to go back to work." She announced, walking towards the door.
"Listen, will you do me a favor and keep an eye on her?"

Herbert rolled his eyes. He hated the fact that she worked for the police. He'd already lost his father and he couldn't bare the thought of losing her too. Now he had to look after HER. This couldn't end well.

"You know what? Give her a chance!" His mother giggled. "You might even like her."
"I don't think so. All she does is eat, sleep and poop."
"Well then the two of you have a lot in common, don't you?" She replied before leaving, slamming the door behind her.

Herbert went upstairs and back to his bedroom. 'Good riddance!' Scarlet thought. She laid back on the sofa and once again, cried herself to sleep...
