Each beat of his cold heart sounded like loud booms to Michael. The plain white washed walls and the busy corridors of the town hospital brought back some bad feelings he had tried to suppress for so long. He still remembered the day his parents had that tragic car accident, he had eavesdropped the conversation between his Uncle and the doctor telling him that both of them couldn't make it. The stale medical smell made him feel like to puke.

'Its my fault,' he tells himself, preparing for the worst, just like he did twelve years ago when his parents had died. Alison was his only family now. The day Uncle Mason had died, he had sworn to himself that he wouldn't let a situation like this, come between him and Alison. He swore that he would hide the truth and protect her from his inner demons. Alison was just a child when she was adopted by Uncle Mason. Though he had always been her next door neighbour, her moving in was a new thing for Michael. Michael was too mature for his age. He already had several things anticipated in his head. Alison falling for him was one. Alison had kissed him for the first time on her thirteenth birthday.

"This is the birthday present I want." she had said with a sweet smile," I want you to kiss me. Lisa had already been kissed so many times. And you are the only guy friend I have known for such a long time, so I wouldn't mind if we start to hang out as couples...maybe"

As for Michael, he could never dare himself to fall in love. Even at that age, he was aware of something evil incarnating inside him. He had always loved to watch bloody movies and try it out practically. Falling in love and having attachments will be like taking down the concealments of his darker face.

"Get a boyfriend!" Michael had teased her.

Alison had scowled at him and then out of blue she had launched herself at Michael pressing her lips on his.

"Alison!" Michael had pushed her away lightly, laughing cockily, "I can't."

"why?Do you think of me as sister?"

"No, no that's not it," he had replied, an amused smile on his face, " I like you...honestly, I like you a lot. But what I think of you is that you are a little underaged for this."

"I am thirteen" She had said throwing off her tantrums, " Lisa had her first kiss when she was eleven!! Why won't you kiss me? Am I not pretty enough? Nobody wants to kiss me!"

"No Alison, you are really, really pretty," he had said, honestly, " and I would really like to kiss you. But I don't want to do this just yet. Maybe you should grow up a little."

" Cmon Michael, its a kiss I asked for" she had sighed in boredom, " not a make out session!"

"Make out session?" Michael almost had his voice choke him, he had laughed out loud, " where did you learn that word?"

" I read it in some book!" she had retorted.

" since when did you start reading books that talks about make out sessions?"

She had rolled her eyes, " you don't have to kiss me Michael, if you don't want to" she had said sadly.

"I am not the person you would have wanted to kiss Alison. one day you will realize that." Michael had told her the honest truth.

That honest truth has finally proven itself. No matter how much he had tried to protect her from a world he lived in, somebody has brutally dragged her into it. somebody just like him. The one fact he knew by now is that even if Alison made it, she would never be able to go back. And only person Michael could find to blame was himself. He felt responsible for everything that had happened to Alison.

" I shouldn't have let her go alone!" he voices his thoughts aloud.

Brandon had come with his dad to the hospital, the moment he heard news about Alison.
