12:45 am Seoul, South Korea "I don't even know how to describe it," I mutter to the girls stirring my drink. "He makes me so curious to the point where I cant help but....wonder."
Lisa eyes blinked twice, her eyebrows furrowing as she set her spoon down.
"That must suck, Chaeyoung. Bad neighbors are the worst." Her hand slowly patting my shoulder as a sign of comfort.
"Yeah, a cute guy with a bad personality is such a waste," Jennie said happiness radiating off her.
"You must be happy Baekhyun has both," Jisoo smirked causing Jennie to shove her shoulder.
Jisoo crackled at Jennie's aggressiveness which led to a small punch on her shoulder.
"On the contrary, I am happy. Oh, and yes, Baekhyun parents were lovely." Jennie clasped her hands together sighing with adoration.
I rolled my eyes, still unsure about this Baekhyun guy. From what I've seen, Jennie was absolutely infatuated with him. Last night, she met his parents calling me at exactly 2:34 am to gush about how sweet his parents were and the number of times Baekhyun called her sweetheart.
I still had my doubts, but with her this attached. My thoughts on her love life at the moment were unwanted.
I looked down at my fingers, twisting the ring that laid there. It always brought a sense of comfort. Like, a deep memory that refused to be forgotten. Tears prickled my eyes, but I refused to cry. Not with the girls around.
I'm going to get through this, for you at-least.
Closing my eyes tightly, I lifted the ring off my finger gently placing it in my front cardigan pocket making sure the ring and the memory was sealed away.
I snapped my head forward to the squealing noises come from Lisa's mouth. She laughed hitting the table. "Oh god, I can't believe you said that to Suho, your boss."
Currently, we were at The Seoul Café.
The girls decided to take a break from their busy schedules to enjoy a nice lunch together. During our time here, I explained whole heartily about the situation with Chanyeol. They listened and asked questions in between, curious about the mysterious neighbor.
But what could they do?
At the end of the day, I was stuck with a man for a neighbor who didn't think very highly of me and could even possibly hate me.
I wanted to shrug it off, but honestly? It bothered a whole lot.
Chanyeol was like no one I've ever met before. The mysterious aura rolled off him making me want to know all of the secrets he held under that hard exterior.
I know it isn't any of my business, but he's my neighbor. It's inevitable not to find out some things about him.
The events of 2 nights ago keep replaying in mind. My curiosity definitely started on that night where I went to investigate the noises coming from his apartment. Chanyeol lied to me saying he was having—um, extracurricular activities.
The awkwardness and embarrassment made the tree branch incident look like child's play.
I sighed staring deeply into my drink.
"Oh, Chaeyoung! I totally forgot to tell you, but my company has a job opening. I know you've been looking for one this summer," Jisoo says tapping her head in a 'duh' motion.
"Really? What exactly is the job?"
Jisoo smiles eagerly took out her phone to show me the company website.
"The Linestone Company is offering assistant positions for higher ups. So, you'll be basically running papers and scheduling conferences and meetings for your boss."
I nod taking the phone from her hands to review the job. Jisoo been working there since the beginning of summer as an intern and she really enjoys it there, but it may be due to the fact Jisoo likes driving her boss, Suho, ballistic. I'm surprised he hasn't fired her by now.
"This is a great opportunity Chaeng," Jisoo said. "We could run into each other in the building and meet up for our lunch break with Jennie and Lisa."
I run a hand through my hair pondering on the thought of working in a legitimate company that probably offers me more money than my current part time job.
I pulled out my ring, placing it back on my ring finger, the girls watching me sympathetically.
He would've wanted me to take the best route.
"Yeah. Let's do it."
