Recently having moved into a city, Sakura felt excited by the new option of walking anywhere interesting. As the only person able to watch over her, I was obligated to follow her.
Today she wanted to go to the park. It was only a few blocks away. Sakura wanted me to carry her, and I was glad to.
Most of the time, I felt stoic. I felt... well, I guess my problem was I DIDN'T. I couldn't feel. The only time I felt anything was when I was able to see Sakura so happy. Her smile was bright, and endearing. In the world of black and white I lived in, her smile was the only thing that brought color.
I sat on the bench, watching as Sakura ran around, having fun, playing, when suddenly I heard a voice...
"Hey, nice shirt!"
I looked at my shirt. It was mostly white, with a depiction of a man in a black tracksuit wielding a katana, which had bandages wrapped around the handle. "Thanks..."
"You must be new around here. What's your name?"
"... Nova. How did you know I'm new?"
"I'm pretty sure I would've remembered a guy with bright blue hair like that if I'd seen them. My name's Amy!"
I looked up, looking at this new face for the first time, and immediately saw sparkling blue eyes, filled with the same excitement and joy I saw in Sakura's. The girl also had light brown hair, which stopped around her shoulders. And her smile was even more bright than Sakura's.
I manage a faint smile. "Nice to meet you," I say.
For the first time, I had managed to make a friend. And my dull life soon became filled with so much more color.
