I ate breakfast, changed out of my clothes, and put on my backpack. I waited for Sakura to be ready and then we headed out the door. I walked all the way to the school, and when I got there, Sakura went inside to get to class.
And then a teacher came to me.
"What are you doing here?"
"Um... I'm about to go to class, sir."
"No you aren't."
"Huh?"
"Secondary school starts tomorrow. Today's just for Primary school."
"Secondary? Primary? What?"
"Oh, right. You're new. Let me explain. You guys had Elementary school, Middle school, and High school, right?"
"Yeah...."
"Well, in this country, we have Primary school, which has kindergarten through 7th grade, and Secondary school, which has 8th grade through 12th grade."
"Oh..."
So, I left. I ended up running into Amy and Chris.
"Oh, hey!" Amy exclaimed as she noticed me.
"Heya Nova," Chris said.
"Hey guys. I wasn't interrupting anything, was I?"
"No, not really."
"Why would you be interrupting anything?" Amy asked.
"I dunno."
"Anyway, we were about to go see a movie. Wanna join us?"
"Sure."
We went to go see a movie. They both wanted to see a rated PG-13 romantic comedy, and I was indifferent. Chris bought the tickets, and offered to buy the snacks, but I insisted that grab them. So they went to go get seat while I stayed behind to get popcorn, some candy, and sodas for everyone.
While waiting in line, a slightly familiar voice spoke to me in a harsh tone. "Tch, you look like a total loser."
"Yeah, you're right."
"Not even gonna fight back?"
"Why should I when I know you're right?"
"Whatever. Say, haven't I seen you before?"
Looking at him, I realize why he seemed familiar.
"Ya know, you seem completely different than your sister."
"What are you talking about?"
"Well, your sister is so polite. And you seem to try too hard to be aggressive."
"Tch- Well, you aren't too similar to YOUR sister either, are you?"
"Guess you're right there. After all, Sakura's the happiest person I know. And me, well, saying I'm happy is like comparing a rain-forest to a desert."
"What's your name anyway, loser?"
"Nova. Yours?"
"Zerith... Anyway I've grabbed my snacks already. And I'm going to go see a REAL movie, unlike the romantic comedy that you're probably here to see."
Although I truly believed that he was trying to imply that only losers watch rom-coms, I had a feeling he didn't truly hate them himself.
I get into the screen room and from where I was standing I could already see Amy and Chris whispering to each other. They were both smiling, and I think I heard some distant laughing. Whatever they were talking about, it made both of them happy. I took my time walking to them in fear of interrupting it.
And as I expected, they stopped talking to one another when I got back. They saved a seat for me between them. I tried insisting that I sit on the end, but they won in the end. We sat in silence through most of the movie. It felt awkward, to be honest.
After the movie, the three of us had decided to wait until most of the other people were out of the theater to leave. I sat, scanning the crowd, and I proved my earlier suspicions to be true. For as I sat, look in the crowd, I saw a black-haired, brown-eyed, pale, and somewhat short guy wearing all black, with a few tears in his eyes. Zerith.
I doubted mentioning this to him would do anything except make him hate me more, so i decided to leave him alone about it.
We eventually left the theater.
"That was a good movie," Amy claimed, saying the first word spoken since I showed up with snacks.
"Yeah..." said Chris.
"Agreed. Well, see ya guys later." I left.
"... See ya..." replied Chris.
"See ya tomorrow, in school!" exclaimed Amy.
When Sakura got home, she immediately started telling me everything about the day. Especially about spending as much as she could of it with Amethyst and Cam. Amethyst, despite being quiet and calm, is apparently really good at just about everything. And Cam seems loud, and conceded, although overall lovable.
She got her homework done, and shortly after headed off to bed because it was dark outside and we didn't have much else to do. I went to bed shortly after her.
