All I Am

Decisions

So fervently and easily we'll make promises
To evade troublesome situations
I cannot be sure there is any truth in such pleas
As I fall into it as well
Yet I will try to hold fast to those words I swore upon
If only I can make it out of this scot-free
If I can avoid such an intervention
I will serve in any way necessary
I'll have to remember to have my actions follow my words
In the end, either way, it would be worth it
Which you is the one that is true?
You never saw yourself following such a path
There is much reward in turning the other way
And if they're your friends, they'll all respect it
You have passion stronger than all of that
And honest faith as well
Everything else leads to emptiness and hollow feelings
There is true joy in simple acts
There are numerous individuals in a great need
Put their needs before your own
Then perhaps you'll see how you've failed
And after, how far you've grown
I want to be a better person than I was yesterday
Since what has already happened cannot be changed
You have to live with the consequences of decisions made
We can be more than our surroundings
We choose the people we will end up being
I want to be a role model
Not an example of what not to do
I will follow through on my promises
My offer for redemption will not be given in vain
