"Okay so let me get this straight, there are vampires, werewolves, and shapeshifters?!" I ask Fern as we lay on the smooth forrest floor looking at the sky.
"Yep," she replies with ease.
The sun slowly starts to set into the beautiful blue faded to purple sky.
We're silent for a long time as my mind drifts off to think about Miles and Ebony.
The last time I saw Miles he was talking about me being his mate...
I don't really wanna be in a relationship right now, but I can't back down from this.I don't have a mate that I know of yet but I have a terrible feeling that he's wrong and that we aren't mates, well I guess I'll find out soon because I invited him over.
Finally the silence is broken when we both hear (with our heightened senses) the doorbell to my house.
"Race ya!" She says getting up.
"Your on!" I say and get up too.
We both speed to the front of the house from the woods in my backyard.
Fern beats me by a couple of seconds, Miles turns from the doorway to look at us both. We're VERY far from looking presentable with our dirty feet and frizzy hair.
He looks us up and down confusion in his eyes.
"Don't ask," I say and enter the house.
"Okay..." He trails off walking inside.
We all flop down on the couch and after a while I finally say,
"Did you know?" I ask, curious.
"Know what?" He says.
"You know... that Fern is a vampire," I say slowly as if I'm talking to a toddler.
"Oh that, I knew that since she and I first met," he says.
"Her family has lived here for years," he adds.
"Oh that?!" I almost scream angry that everyone knew BUT me.
"I thought you knew?" He says confused.
"I didn't" I say calming down a bit.
"Anyway changing the subject..." Fern says.
"About this mate thing," I say.
"Oh, um that..." He says awkwardly.
"I don't understand it, cause I'm bi and your gay right?" I question.
"Yeah," he says confirming the gossip that has been going around school.
"But every one in your pack always describes it as this feeling that you get whenever they're around, a strong feeling of love," Fern says.
"They talk about it non-stop," Miles adds.
"Well I've never felt it before, I do now but not to you." I say simply pointing at Miles.
"I didn't get that feeling either, but a fortune teller in our pack said long ago that my mate was not her true self and that when she became herself I would find her." Miles explains.
I still have this weird feeling whenever Ebony comes along though, she's had this glowing thing about her and it makes me feel safe and free in her presence.
"Dose Ebony have a mate?" I blurt out unexpectedly.
"Not that I know of, why?" Miles questions.
"Just wondering," I say.
"So we've cleared up that neither of you are each others mates?" Fern asks us.
"Yep," We both say in union.
"I should get going then, see you at school!" Miles says and exits the house with lightning speed.
"Bye!" We yell after him.
"Wanna race?" Fern asks standing up.
"Your on," I say and get a head start.A/N
