Chapter 1

Jongup POV

"LEO!!! Get your ass up!" I yell when i get downstairs and see that Leo the warlock and my best friend that I live with isn't awake yet. After I yelled for him I was met with him moaning and groaning upstairs he was supposed to be the one going grocery shopping today, but it's 12pm and the store closes early because today is a full moon, we need these special power blockers for during the full moon Even though we live among humans they know supernatural beings exist and they aren't scared of us, they always take precautions on full moons because that's when all beings powers are activated, oh I forgot to introduce myself my name is Jongup I am a vampire, I was turned 5 years ago when I decided I wanted to end my life, when a Ice Vampire named Daehyun rescued me but I am not going to go into more detail about this. I do have power to control water, all supernatural beings have power, typically for vampires it's how we died in human forms if you were turned. My friend, Leo, the one I was just yelling at, is a fire warlock. Our friendship is quite weird; typically Vampires hang out with each other and warlocks hang out with each other. Enough about that, back to Leo and I yelling at each other. "Jongup, quit yelling at me I'm awake what do you want" Leo yelled at me, from upstairs. "You are supposed to be buying the supplies we need to block our powers remember? The store closes in 2 hours. You dont want to be caught without it do you? You know what will happen if we dont take it" I tell him. Something happened the first time we were together on a full moon but not going to into detail about that. Due to my super sensitive hearing I could hear Leo's mumbled retort as he moved about and barked back my own reply. I wasnt feeling well today and didnt have time to banter with him. He knew this but still seemed to want to push me. Gosh fucking Warlocks sometimes they are so grumpy.
Leo's POV
I could hear yelling from downstairs from my roommate Jongup. I groaned and put the pillow over my head Let me introduce myself, my name is Leo and I'm a fire warlock. Jongup is one of my closest friends, we found each when he was just learning how to navigate the world of supernatural beings, he was human before he became a vampire. A little history Vampires are the only supernatural being that can be created. "Jongup stop yelling, I'm awake, what do you want" Even though I know it's grocery day. I like teasing him, we are opposites, like I mentioned I am fire warlock, Jongup's power is controlling water. Which makes for some interesting games.

"We need to get some groceries" he tells me as I walked downstairs
"We neeed to go? So you mean you're coming with me this time?" Leo smirked, knowing that i would not be able to go due to my unstable condition.
"Leo you know i can't go with you. I have alot more to prepare than you do." I shook my head and glared at him. I knew he was messing with me or stalling for time... or both.

I hate grocery day but I know how Jongup feels about going out on the full moon. I also know it's my week because Jongup won't be eating solid food this week either. Vampires are weird to me. Ah it's so nice out today it's a beautiful spring day, not to hot and not really sunny either too bad me and Jongup will be locked in after 5pm tonight. It would have been the perfect day to go take pictures of the older side of town.

*Ding* the door to the small grocery store in town opens. When I walk i look over to the left and wave at the cute cashier sitting behind the counter
"Good Afternoon Leo how are you today?" Hello Hongbin, I am good, how are you feeling? I asked him because he has been feeling really sick lately. Jongup thinks cause his mate might be nearby.

"I am feeling good, looking forward to the full moon tonight. Ravi said that I might find my mate today." Hongbin tells me what I already know. Ravi is the one who changed Hongbin, but we have all known Hongbin since he was little. He doesn't remember that though which is quite sad

"Oh that is great, I can't wait to meet him after you do!" I tell the boy as I start walking around picking up Ramen, meat, cereal and a few other extras I think Jongup will appreciate, once he's able to function again.
As I walk into the aisle housing the special power blockers we would need for the full moon tonight, I see a very handsome tall man browsing the isle further down. He had a nice build and a simple stature yet something about his presence pulled me to move closer to him.  Not as tall as me but it felt as though he would tower over me if he were to look at me. I shook my head and pushed through to get past him. My body began to tingle as the air around me moved and all the sudden my eyes started glowing red of their own accord. Oh no i thought to myself as i moved to shield my eyes. Why am i changing now? Is it because of him? Dont tell me? This man is my mate? The man turns around to face me, as I am covering my eyes, when he does that I start freaking out I don't know this man, what if he's a bad person, what if doesn't like because I'm so quiet. Gah I'm so confused and unsure of everything. I hope my worst fears don't come true. I had this sudden urge to run away and hide at home but something was keeping me standing in the middle of that aisle hiding my red eyes from this tall handsome man. "Hello there. Are you doing okay?" The darkskinned stranger asked stopping right in front of me. His face was mere inches from mine and I was half curious and half afraid to look up. I finally got the courage after a few seconds to look at the handsome man, Even though I'm still nervous a scared i checked him out, well not very confidently. All the sudden I hear a really cute giggle, but it didn't sound like Hongbin's. I looked at the man and into his eyes. Oh fuck they are blue shit shit. "Uh...I...Leo...your...hi"

"Well you don't talk very well do you, my dear?" he asks me. "I'm sorry, I'm just not used to uh talking to other people."

"Well my love don't apologize for being shy and quiet, that is okay with me. My name is Hakyeon, and I am assuming yours is Leo? As you've probably noticed by my eyes right now I am an ice warlock.
Hakyeon smiled breifly taking in my tall frame as i squirmed uncomfortably in front of him. "Huh, i never would have someone who plays with fire as my mate" Hakyeon tells me.
I nervously smile at him how should I react to that. "I think this is the universe's way of telling to control my hot temper or maybe your the one that needs a little fire in your life" I mumble quietly not expecting him to hear.
"I am glad to see you have a sense of humor" he smiled his eyes lighting up as he did. I winced slightly and smiled back sheepishly. I wondered if he realized how deadly that smile was. I could see him sniffing slightly and looked around wondering if there was something that I had perhaps spilled though I could see nothing. I knew I had showered and I usually did not have an odor so his sniffing puzzled me.

"I do not want to sound rude my love but is that a vampire I smell on you?" I tensed up at his words and braced myself. Warlocks and Vampires haven't always gotten along but ever since King Yongguk became king our world has been so much calmer. Even still there were some warlocks who still fought with vampires and those who sided with them were punished too and it could get pretty ugly.

"Do you have a problem with that? " I bristled. I could feel my temperature rising as it always did when I had to protect my friend.

"No no, my love I do not have a problem with it, I took in a young vampire a long time ago as well. I was just asking because I know quite a few warlocks who have vampire mates and warlock mates as well. I was just wondering if you had perhaps already had a mate." He replied quickly his hands splayed out in a kind of surrender.

"Oh okay" I replied shyly feeling quite foolish for jumping to conclusions  "The vampire in question you are smelling is not my mate, he is simply one of my best friends, his name is Jongup. We met when he was still very new to the supernatural world. I helped him learn to navigate it." Hakyeon nods, a small smile on his face.
"That was a very sweet thing for you to do. Very noble of you. So I take it you have lived with him since?" He inquired prodding me further. I nodded my head quickly. Yes, we both benefit from it. I would think. There are things i cannot do that he can and vice versa. Although We do have our fights, I will admit to that." Hakyeon chuckled knowingly at my words shuffling slightly his basket.

"Ah, yes, I can imagine there are quite a few mishaps." His smile lit up his eyes again and I kept going hoping to make him smile more for me. I was really starting to crave that smile.

"I think we fight even more because he's a water vampire. Our personalities and tempers don't always match up sure but we have our own qualms about daily living too and it can make it a little difficult to resolve the issue. Sometimes with house destroying results. " I had to think back on how much money we had spent on repairs and winced once again at the thought.

"Haha Sounds a lot like a typical fire ice/water relationship, and very fun" Hakyeon was genuinely laughing now and the sound made my heart skip a beat. I smiled shyly as I stared at him taking in his features. I was pulled back when I felt Hongbin walk up behind me, "Leo I hate to interrupt but it's been almost an hour and you guys need to get home before curfew" He looked at the clock on the wall that had moved way too fast. I apologize to Hongbin and  walk up to pay for my groceries. I don't even remember if I have gotten everything that Jongup asked me to buy.

  "Hakyeon I am so glad I was able to meet you. I would like to be able to talk again like this.. though I feel as though I was the only one talking really. Sorry for that." I look down shyly and slide the toe of my shoe across the ground. 
"I havent had this delightful of a conversation with someone in ages. And I would be happy to continue this later of course. Perhaps I could get your number? " he smiled at me again and once again I was captured by it.
"Oh i uh... " i searched around for a piece of paper and a pen feeling awkward for not thinking to bring some and then wondering why inwould have. Hakyeon chuckled again and pulled out a very fancy looking pen.
He grabbed my arm balancing the bags towards the back and scribbled a number across my wrist. He slid the pen back into his pocket and slowly slid his fingers across my hand making my heart skip another beat I had lost count of how many beats had been skipped already. I watched as he tilted his head foreard and layed a single kiss on the back of my hand
"Dont forget to call me" he smiled and waved a small goodbye before walking off in the opposite direction of me.
