"(Y/n)?" Leopold's voice echoed in her ears. She quickly wiped the cursed tears falling from her face as she closed the book she was reading. Managing a quick hum in response, she finally glanced in his direction.
"Were you crying?" He hesitated before asking her the question. Her eyes grew wide as a smile itched to pop onto her face. He didn't see that she was reading a book and an unusually sad one that made her cry.
How far could I possibly take this, her thoughts stirred as she thought of every reaction that he would show. After all, Leopold wasn't the one to hold back his emotions unless his brother was there to scold him.
"Only a little bit." (Y/n) answered. Leopold's eyes grew wide as he began questioning the (H/c) haired girl.
"Who did it?" His voice showed even more concern as he clenched his fist.
"No one." She replied, looking towards the ground as she held a slight blush. She found Leopold's actions quite cute.
"There is no way I could possibly believe that." His voice grew louder.
"And why is that? Why should you care so much if I was crying?" She uttered, acting as if she was hurt in a way. She wasn't lying and she was genuinely curious about why he was showing so much concern for her.
He sighs at your response. She had just caught him trying to act mature. She had to suppress another fit of laughter because she knew the reason why he was acting this way.
At least she thought she did.
She turned around and tried to walk away before he stopped her. His next words surprised her even more.
"(Y/n), if you're still insecure about yourself, talk to me about it. I can always fix your worries. If you say that no one was making you cry then it's you making yourself feel this way again.." Leopold's turquoise eyes seemed to shine as his concerned features seemed to relax. (Y/n) was shocked to hear Leopold, the loud and confident boy, exhibit such thoughtful reason for why she was crying.
(Y/n) did have her moments, and she was usually silent when it happened. Like when she first joined the Crimson Lions, she had thought her magic was completely useless. All the whispers that surrounded her were about how she was a peasant, and the thing that seemed to devastate her the most was when she started believing it. Then with it came the harsh judges about her appearance. (Y/n) looked at Leopold with such shock that she started tearing up a little bit.
"Despite how useless you say you are (Y/n), you're really amazing. I know you can't see it but the way you put you risk your life for others is amazing. Heck, even my brother compliments you for that! I don't know how hard you are on yourself, but you should stop thinking that way," he takes a deep breath before continuing, "and the way your (E/c) eyes sparkle each time we talk catches me off guard. You are terrifyingly beautiful in my eyes! Even I, Leopold Vermillion, can acknowledge that you are astonishing!" Leopold exclaimed. It took him another 30 seconds before it had sunk into his self-confident brain that he had made it sound like some sort of confession.
She could no longer hold in her laughter. She had almost forgotten that she had cried over a sad book. Leopold sat down and covered his face with his hands, attempting to hide the blush that began to spread.
"I wasn't crying because of my insecurities," she laughed as she took out the book she was reading, "it was because of this book. It was unusually tragic and it made me cry a little."
He looked up in shock, almost in betrayal before managing a few stutters, "S-s-so what I said was completely unrelated?" She nodded as she laughed a little more.
"Although I do have to say, thank you. I think what you just said can make my insecure thoughts stay away for a while." She chirped as her laughs died down. By now, she could see how red his ears were.
(Y/n) blushed as she leaned down and gave him a peck on his forehead and attempted to run away. At that moment, Leopold had managed to grab her hand. Frick was the only word that she thought of.
"You're mine. I, Leopold Vermillion, declare you as mine." He mumbles, but it was loud enough for her to hear.
"Can't you ask me to be your girlfriend in a more, I don't know, normal way?" She giggles as Leopold stands up, clearly showing the height difference between the two of you. He seemed to say nothing for a few seconds before kissing her forehead.
"Wha-" (Y/n) says flustered before realizing that the self-confident Leopold had been eagerly waiting for your response.
"Yes." She managed to say as she covered her flustered face behind her hands.
~Afterwards~
"I doubt it was that sad, I bet you I wouldn't even cry if I read that book." your confident boyfriend stated as he managed to slip his hand into hers.
"Really? I'd be surprised if you even read it, Leopold." She said with no hints of regret.
"Give that to me," he yelled in a playful manner, "I'll prove to you that it wasn't that sad."
~In the morning~
Leopold's eyes were red, even though he tried to cover it, (Y/n) could see it.
"So? Was it sad? Did you cry?" (Y/n) grinned.
There was no point in hiding it as Leopold managed a small, "Yeah" and hugged (Y/n) to hide both his grief and embarrassment for underestimating the book.
