It was the first day of many school days, so I wanted to my first impression to be a good one. My preparations began the previous night with a straightener at hand and a nail polish brush in the other. The "perfect" outfit situated itself on my bedspread. This coming day had to be, well...perfect.
I opened my eyes to a newfound Monday morning. It was as though I was breathing in a new atmosphere. The weekend expired and school was now about to be in session. The typical hour in the bathroom felt like only minutes. I did my makeup and other girly things, breakfast came around, and then I bolted out the door. I ambled to my dad's car and he drove me to school.
Even though public schools are so "inviting," I had a small class. Smaller than the one in Indiana, as I used to attend a tiny community school. This school seemed to have more to offer in response to curriculums, sports, and clubs. For such a small amount of students, the hallways were buzzing with excitement.
It also seemed everybody knows everybody. The cliques was hip-in-hip discussing the latest fads and juicy gossips. The guys were fist-pumping their school buds and showing off their swag. It puts a damper on things when you're the new girl and couldn't recognize not even one face. Could it get any worse than that?
I referenced my schedule and walked to my first class, which was Intro to Music. One step into room 124 and bump! A girl attempted to grab the books that I sent falling out of her grasp, which caused her to fall backwards. It appeared a desk leg broke her fall.
I threw my books down and helped her up. At first I thought she would punch me in the face or kick me in the groin, but she dusted herself off and said, "Crap, I'm so sorry. I am such a klutz. That's the second time this morning." She suddenly gave me a hardy look and said, "I'm Janet, Janet Rush, you must be new here. I usually recognize a face when I see one."
She had this dark brown hair that reached a little past her shoulders, emerald eyes, and her nose wasn't too big, but not to small, either. She appeared to beautiful socialite with a compassionate personality. "Janet!" I heard someone yell. She turned and waved, "this is my friend Rianne McCarthy." Janet said. Rianne had signature dirty blond hair and natural highlights. Her brown eyes caught other spectrums of colors that made them unique. "Hey," said Rianne. "Hi," I replied back
"You got a name?"
"Oh, it's Kiana Sutton."
My voice hinted I was embarrassed. An awkward silence clouded over us for a couple moments until another girl came over "Janet, are you going to be in drama this semester?" The girl inquired."Hey to you too, Kayla. Yeah, and I might do journalism too," Janet said with her eyes shifting towards me. "Kiana, this is Kayla Marks," Kayla had also had dark brown hair, darker than Janet's and maybe 5 inches longer. Her eyes were the bluest of blues.
The bell rang and it was time for our first class. Mine was music. Kayla was in the same. I hurried over to the room, and our music class consisted of like, six people. Told you our class was small. I don't know why they even bothered to split the people in the class. Our teacher was stupid. her name was Mrs. Stoofie, and she didn't even teach us notes or anything. We just sang stupid songs. Kayla passed me notes most of the time. She mainly talked about the cute boy who sat in front of us. His name was Liam, apparently. He had nice flippable hair, brown eyes, and he was so hot. the bell rang, signaling the end of class. I went ot my locker, and turns out I was next to Janet. She got her books. She said "Hey, Kiana, what class do you have next?" "Uh, history," I said "Really, so do i!" She said happily. We went past a drama club sign up sheet on the way, and Janet quickly signed. "I love drama," She sighed. We got to history, and I could tell Janet was bored out of her mind. She started passing notes. I learned a lot about her, and she only talked about the cute boy in front of us once. I learned that she lived with her mom, and her dad died in the military. She had an annoying twin brother named Hunter, who looked like a boy version of her. I also learned she loved animals, and had a havanese (a breed of dog) named Riley. She was a smart person, and she liked to sing and dance and act. I wonder if she's any good. She was older than her brother by fifteen minutes. But then, the history teacher called my name and saw me passing my note that said I thought that boy was cute. He said "Kiana, what are you doing, is that a note?" he snatched it. It said that I thought that the boy in front of us was cute. Mr.Sooch, the teacher read it aloud "Janet, what do you think of the boy sitting in front of me, I think he's pretty cute," The boy turned back and smiled at me while the rest of the class laughed, except Janet "Kiana, that boy is Hunter. My brother," She whipered. I was mortified. The bell rang. The bell couldn't have rung when Mr.Sooch was about to read the note? I got out of my seat and was the first one out of the door. i was looking down, but heard someone fall into step with me. I thought it was Janet. i looked up and it was Hunter. Janet was behind, trying to catch up with me. He smiled that sparkly white smile and said "Hey," i blushed and said "sorry about that, and your sister is probably mortified," I said "Ah, it's fine, and Janet doesn't hold grudges" He said I found myself in front of my locker and i got my books. Hunter headed to his locker and Janet came up "O my gosh, i'm so sorry, i should've told you he was my brother. Sorry." She said I smiled and said "S'okay." and headed to my next class, which was english.I sat in my assigned seat. Yes, this is the only class we have assigned seats. I sat next to Hunter. Great. We sat through a long lecture, and she assigned us partners for a stupid adverb project. Of course, with my luck, my partner was Hunter. We worked together for the rest of the class, and I had one more class until the freshman lunch period. yes, the grades have their own lunch periods, with the whole grade, which is only like thirty people, that could be a first grade at an elementary school. I had algebra this period, I grabbed my books before Janet could say anything. She knew I was in a bad mood. I had this class with Rianne. She didn't talk to me either.
Finally lunch came. I grabbed the disgusting crap they called soup, and a peice of bread, and a jell-o cup and milk, of course. I paid for my meal, and I found Janet, Kayla, and Rianne. Luckily Hunter sat with his own friends. "Hey," Kayla said as I sat down. She had the same stuff as me, whereas Rianne and Janet packed their lunch. I learned a lot about both Kayla and Rianne. Rianna's parents were divorced, and she had a little brother, and a bigger sister. Her mom got custody of her, but she visited her dad sometimes. She loved animals, like Janet did, and she had a St.Bernard named Brandy. She also liked school. She was very smart. Her passion was baking.
Kayla's parents were together, and she had a little sister, and a big brother. She loved sports. Sports were her passion. She was pretty smart, and she was in drama club, but she wasn't as good as Janet. She was also a good artist, even though she doesn't think she's good, but Janet and Rianne insisted she was. She also had a beautiful voice, slightly better than Janet's, but don't tell her I said or she will kill me, jk, but seriously, she's jeolous a bit. (we heard eachother sing earlier in the lunch period)
The lunch hour was over, and we finished the afternoon classes. I had to take the bus, and so did Janet, since her mom didn't have time, and her dad was dead. Rianne's uncle picked her up, and either her mom or dad picked her up from her uncle's house. (Her uncle also had kids who went there.) Kayla's dad picked her up and brought her to the house. None of her siblings went to the school. Her brother was in college, and her sister was eight. I sat down next to a random kid, since Hunter was already sitting next to Janet, and even though she begged, and even commanded, since she was older, he still wouldn't move, so I sat on the seat in front of them with a lonely sophomore. (They combined the kids some kids from eavh grade on each bus. I faced Janet the whole time. We talked about random stuff. she talked about acting, singing, and dancing, which was her passion. She was the head of the drama club in middle school and she was the lead in all the plays, and hopes to be the same by the junior year, but it will probably happen in the sophomore year, Because Rianne and Kayla said she was really good, she could even fake cry, and it sounded real. Once she was rehersing for a play, and she had to act like she broke her leg, and when she did that scene where she tripped, she started to fake cry and tears came out, and the teacher thought something actually happened. Her brother started talking to the guy across the isle from them, and Janet heatd him say she was hot. She blushed and looked down. The bus came to her nieghborhood, and it wasn't bad, and Janet said that's because her mom is the best real estate agant at the place she works at, and that keeps food on her plate, and keeps them in the good part of town, but the bad part is literally a minute away since this town is so small. I rode the rest of the ride alone until they came to my stop. A really popular girl came off the same time as me. She pushed me out of her way and called me an idiot. I got up and got off. I walked to my house and my dad wasn't there, so he must've still been at work. I laid on my bed, exhausted, and I found my eyelids becoming heavy, and then I fell asleep.
