The Kingdom of Eradania was famous for it's magical plants. People in surrounding lands were allowed to visit year round, but most came in the Spring when the iridescent pollen shone the brightest, creating a magical sheen everywhere you'd look. The Spring was the King's favorite season for he was a gentle man. The Queen preferred the winter with it's biting cold and frosty air. The two princes, Eli, 14 and Alex, 11 loved the spring like their father. The boys liked to wish upon the star shining tulips for silk and ivory to give to the peasants.
The Queen ruled with a firm hand, she ordered executions 5 or 6 times a year, but that was much less than the other kingdoms. This was because all the other kingdoms in the land were ruled by Kings. Nearly all of them filthy and spoiled by their mothers. The Queen took great care in seeing that Eli, who was next in line, would be different.
Eli was smart with a good will, a generous heart and a handsome face. His dreams of being king consisted of fairness and equality. His mother thought differently, as a child Eli would play with the peasant boys, but she no longer allowed that. All of Eli and Alex's new friends were picked by the Queen and they were all royals. Zachary, Hanes and Grayson, kind boys to the Queen and Eli, but they liked to tease Alex.
Alex was small and skinny, though he wasn't lazy. His curly hair and green eyes were his only strong suit. His tiny nose made him look weak and his round face made him look like a distant relative to Eli with his strong jaw line. He related most to his father, who wasn't born into royalty.
The King was a selfless man who had fallen in love with his now wife as a peasant. She loved him very much too so they eloped. They came back to the kingdom when the king, her father, died. The mystery of his death puzzled the people of Eradania, the king had gone missing in the night. It was said by the maids working that night that there was a smell that reminded them of witchcraft, a metallic smell. The King and Queen never told their sons that.
