"Deku!"

Another after-school evening.

Barely anyone was really inside the building, as most had already left to the safety of their houses or the UA residence.

As a matter of fact, she, herself, was about to head over when she heard that nickname she had always hated.

She rolled her eyes, knowing who had said that, and where the hell he was, along with the receptor of such a name, "One day, that's all I'm asking for."

Of course, her pleas wouldn't just be heard and destiny was just as agreeable, so she was already on her way to those students.

As she heard their growing heated discussion, from one side, of course, she decided to move faster towards her destination, which shouldn't be too far away now; maybe a few more hallways.

"You don't do anything else than stand in my way, Deku!"

If she wasn't before, she was definitely trotting now.

Once she reached the place, she stopped fast enough on her tracks, then walking up to the teen who simply thought that he could go around intimidating just about anyone with that damn glare.

She wasn't going to lie, that glare could make her shit her pants but, sometimes, and just sometimes, she wouldn't have any of his bullshit.

"Seems like you got a problem, Mister explosion murder." She was about to pull Izuku behind her, but she realizes, much to her distaste, that he was a couple meters from her and that, obviously, he wouldn't be a fan of her acting like a shield.

"Zip it, you damn loudmouth, " he growled and walked closer to her. "Oh, what a woe that I don't want to, right?"

He closed his fists, "Are you being sassy with me right now, fate girl?"

Was she thrilled that he seemed about to punch her in the face?

No.

Was she frightened?

It would be bullshit if she said otherwise.

"Wow, did you actually get that on your own?"

"Are you looking for a fight?!" He pushed her away from him a couple of steps at least. "I am if you are just telling everyone how undeserving they are of being here!"

"Do you think that he deserves to be here? I am stronger, I am faster, my quirk's better, what can he do?!"

"He can definitely become a hero, unlike you, asshole!"

Silence.

She could almost see Izuku frowning out of the corner of her eye, but what caught her attention was Bakugo's labored breathing and his fist coming towards her face, which she barely avoided on time.

"Well, shit."

It took her a while to get Bakugo to leave, although this didn't leave her unscathed, and for Izuku to calm down, as he fretted over her newly obtained, and now forming, purple eye.

They walked out of the school building and now that the adrenaline had worn off, she realized how close she had been to being fucking cremated alive.

This was an exaggeration, of course, Bakugo wouldn't have let that happen; he was an asshole, but an asshole who controlled his quirk marvelously.

Or so she hoped.

Izuku clenched his fist, murmuring something to himself before quickly enough returning her attention to her, ranting about how she should never do that, about how Bakugo was someone who he had to deal with and how he should've been the one to get the hit, not her.

He also mentioned something about becoming someone who wouldn't need to be protected and someone who she would be proud of.

She nodded while looking up at the mixed tints of the sky; maybe she didn't have the determination he had, but as he became that hero, she would be the one with the ability to protect.

"You okay?"
