The tapes of Carl Takahashi

03: Tape 2

"Lorraine, you definitely know how to simmer a steak." I said and wiped my mouth with my napkin.

"I do my best, John."

I get up from my chair and put my plate in the sink. Because that meal was so good, I did a tiny favor and cleaned my plate.

"I'll be in my office working on my report now."

"That report must be so important. You've been talking about it since you came home."

"You know what they say, honey. Important inspections make important reports."

My wife just crossed my arms and smirked at me. "And who made that saying?"

I chuckle and make my way upstairs. I've been long done with the report, unbeknownst to Lorraine. I was more focused on those damn tapes than anything else. I make it to my office, takes a seat, and slides in the second tape.

In this tape, Carl is smiling. There are several balled up pieces of paper on his desk.

"I've finally done it. 1 month and 151 drawings later, I've finally done it!"

Carl puts up a piece of paper at the screen. It looks like the same drawings of Voltorb and Electrode I've seen back at Silph Co.

"This here is what I dubbed "Experiment 100"." Carl said and points at the Voltorb drawing. "It is about a foot in diameter, and it is built with an advanced AI. The 2 eyes are sensors that detect its surroundings, and it can identify all known Pokémon. I've decided to make it red on top and white on the bottom as some sort of decoration. Experiment 100 can shrink down a Pokémon the size of an Exeggutor or smaller, and contains it by constantly monitoring it's status."

Carl moves towards the Electrode drawing. "Of course you may ask: "But what about large Pokémon?" I'm glad if you asked that. If a trainer wants to capture a large Pokémon, it can instruct Experiment 100 to upgrade itself into a much larger capsule. It's eyes become smaller and more focused, and it develops a mouth to let out a mimicked cry of the Pokémon to attract it. I dub this capsule Experiment 101. Both of these capsules require an occasional electrical charge to remain functional. Now that I'm finished with the drawings, it's time to finally construct them. Takahashi out." The video ends, and I just stare at the blank screen.

I decide to study the drawings and plans for these Pokémon for about 2 hours. Once I heard the door click, I immediately switched the video player off and covered it with my coat along with the tapes. I did not want Lorraine to be involved in any of this.

Lorraine stood in the doorway. "Are you coming to bed soon?" She asked.

"I'll meet you in bed in a half hour. I just need to get my things straight with the uh, report."

Lorraine sighed and walked slowly to the bedroom. "I guess you cannot partake in the battle between the Cloyster and Onix tonight then."

"I am coming immediately, sweetheart!" I rushed out the office and went to the bedroom with Lorraine.
