Warning: I wrote this at 2am because I was feeling passionate along with some good old insomnia. So I hope this makes sense lol

So a couple weeks ago or so, I went to my uncle's graduation (he got his DOCTORATE :D).

I won't go into details about that, but needless to say, the graduation took place in a busy city :)

During the ceremony, I noticed that my cousin (his daughter who was sitting with us while my uncle "graduated") had her book bag with her.

I asked bout why she brought it with her and she explained that she had a lot of homework and she'd gone to the previous graduation that weekend and her dad didn't mind blah, blah, blah.

But my eyes focused on a pin she had on her book bag.

I actually don't remember what the pin said, but it lead to me thinking:

HOLY EFF MY COUSIN SUPPORTS LGBTQ+ :D

I don't know why this makes me so happy, actually. I guess it just made me happy to know that'd she'd support not only me, but others like me too :3

Oh, I should've probably mentioned that I'm not exactly "out" to my family (except Diana and my parents, all who took it really well).

SO YEAH that's at least two less people I have to worry bout as far as bad reactions go :D

It's nice, getting that kind of unknowing support from people that you love <3

Anyway, so I pointed the pin out to Diana and we both silently geeked out for a bit as the ceremony wrapped up.  We made our way to find/meet up with my uncle (which proved to be very easy actually).  Then we decided to go back to the parking garage, stop and grab a bite to eat in the city while we were there.

But on our way we ran into a small group of protestors (I saw like... three).

Now I'm so short that I couldn't really see what they were protesting, only catching a glimpses of their massive yellow-black sign and the only word I saw was "HELL" in big yellow lettering.

I kinda just assumed it was some religious protest and moved on.

As we got closer, I was more worried about crossing the street and not dying, so I didn't pay the protestors much attention... Until my mom gave my shoulder a reassuring squeeze and said: "Sometimes freedom of speech isn't always a good thing."

I was a bit confused at first, before I realized what the yellow-black sign said, and what they were actually protesting.

HOMOS GO TO HELL

....................... And imma be totally honest - it didn't bother me at all.

I had just found out that my cousin and uncle were in fact not homophobic so there wasn't much anyone could do to ruin my day from there :D

And when we had to walk by these protestors (to get to the parking garage) my parents legit formed a protective circle around me when we walked by, as if these protestors could somehow SENSE MY GAY XD XD

But it was super sweet gesture nonetheless and very much appreciated X3

My parents must've thought I was going to be really upset bout it or something but really I was on the brink of laughing my head off.

What did I care about what some close-minded protestors thought of people like me?! My family supports me, that's what I care about.  I value my family's thoughts more than three homophobes exercising their first amendment lol

So yeah that was it
