Two people  walked in, one with a notebook, and one with a recording device.

Hi Mrs.Parrish, my name's Diana, and this is Donovan. We're just going to interview you, and feel free to include lots of detail. Alright you can begin. She smiled

We met when we were kids. Well kindergarten actually. The kids there would always make fun of me because I was "weird", so I really didn't have any friends, and I would always watch all the other kids play at recess. Well, one day, some of the kids kinda took it too far and they all circled around me laughing. I forgot why though, but it was like he was my superhero, because that day, he pushed through the crowd and hugged me.

Hey leave her alone! he said.

I was still crying that day, but that's the day that we became best friends.

He was always there to play with me at recess and we always shared our lunch together. It was like we were brother and sister. Then in 1st grade, we decided to celebrate our 1st best friend anniversary.

We wrote each other letters about why we loved each other. I still remember what his said.

Hi best friend! Well I love you because your silly and pretty and we were meant to be best friends! Then it had a picture of two stick figures holding hands at the park.

I always thought mine was more better than his though, haha.

Hi best friend, well I love YOU because youre my superhero. You saved me from all the mean kids in kindergarten and I'm thankful that we are friends! Then I drew a picture of me and him under a rainbow.

We went to the playground and in the very corner, we dug up a hole and put our letters inside. Before we covered it up, we pinky promised that we would never leave each other's side and that we would always be best friends no matter what. After that, we hugged and went back to playing on the slide.

In 2nd grade, his mom got a new job in Chicago, so he had to move. Of course, I was devistated. He was my only friend and now he was gone. I was bullied for those 5 years because I was now an easy target since I didn't have anyone.

He then came back in the 7th grade. I was up in my room and I was crying because I missed him so much. So I guess I didn't hear my door open. I was rocking back and forth on my bed holding the first picture we ever took together which was in kindergarten. I was basically talking to myself

"I miss you, you were my superhero."

Well I'm here now.
