I was sure I was going to die for real this time. Living on the side of the road, begging for food or money. It was just another dark night in the town. The air on my skin was bitter and cold, sending shivers down my body. The taste of blood on my tongue from my cracked lips was unbearable. I was so tired, so cold, so alone.

"Please..."

"Food..."

"Water..."

"Anything...please."

I was too tired and too empty to shed even a single tear.

I closed my eyes, as my world started to go black.

But at that moment, I began to hear footsteps of someone passing by.

I took a breath to say something, but nothing come out but a single pathetic gust of air.

I struggled to open my eyes, my vision blurred and whimsy.

All I saw was a tall figure standing above me, staring.

"Ma'am?" A voice called out to me, but I couldn't get anything but a low groan out.

"Hm..."

"a beggar."

I didn't know what to do. I was barely conscious, but this was my final chance.

I moved my arm to reach out to them.

I cannot understand what they were saying to me, but they picked me up and put me in some kind of vehicle. I could hear the motor running as voices and colors swirling in my mind, as I took one last breath, and fainted.

I woke up, although I wasn't sure as I was exactly. I soon realized that this miracle was in fact not a dream. I could barely believe it, I was in a bed, with clean sheets! I looked over to my side, to see a white plate of cooked ham and mashed potatoes, with a glass a water alongside the meal. I can't remember the last time I had been this happy. I took the food and begun to eat it as quickly as I could. It was quite cold, considering it was probably left out for a long while. But, I didn't care, I couldn't. It had been so long since I have had a full meal like this. The ham served was fried to perfection, along with the warm and buttery potatoes.

It all felt so amazing on my tongue, felt even better in my stomach. However, it wasn't long until I had sharp pains in my stomach as well. I must've eaten too fast...

I reached for the water and gulped it down within seconds.

I could barely contain my excitement, as the water washed down my dry throat.

I was naive enough to have eaten the food without knowing where it came from, but I was just so hungry...

I got up to go thank whoever did all this for me. When my feet hit the floor, I stepped on something soft and silky. I had stepped on a pair of clothes by the bed.

"Are these for me...?"

I couldn't know if they were, but I put them on anyways. They were soft and smelled like roses. They were a beautiful clean white, a white like ones you'd see on sheets of new fallen, untouched snow.

The touch was comforting against my skin, and the smell was even better. Before I could get too ahead of myself, I heard my door open. I turned to see who it was, and to my surprise, it was a tall beautiful woman.

She spoke to me.

"Greetings."

"You must be the one my husband told me about. It's very pitiful to see such a young woman out on the streets."

I could feel the blood rush to my cheeks.

"O-Oh thank you! Thank you so much!"

She sent a warm smile my way. She really was a gorgeous lady. Her hair, long and silky. Her lashes, long, her eyes the color of the ocean deep. Her sweet voice cut through my swarming thoughts.

"I know you were barely conscious when we rescued you, so I'll let you know what is going on."

She continued. "My name is Elisa, my husband had spotted you when I was shopping not too far by. He brought you to our car, and got me soon after."

"I made sure to get extra food for you. I'm not sure what you like, so I made it simple."

I couldn't believe how kind she was being to me. I hadn't expected this at all.

"Clearly" she added, laughing at herself.

"Please, is there anything I can do for you?"

I shook my head. "No, you've done enough! I can't remember the last time I was this happy!" I was on the verge of tears. "Dear God, thank you, thank you!"

I saw her eyes widen in surprise as she came over to embrace me. Her hug was gentle and warm, I could barely hold myself back. I could hear her faint whisper in my ear.

"Its okay dear, we'll keep you here as long as you need it."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing, it was all so surreal. Just a few hours ago I was on the streets begging for food. Now I'm in a beautifully cleaned house, with new clothes, food, and a whole new house. I was trembling in her arms, and that day, I learned that this was going to be one of the happiest days of my life.
