Lexi's POV
"Let's go!" I whispered.
We were following Snape as silently as we could, trying to intercept his plans to steal the Sorcerer's Stone. We tip-toe after Snape as he turns down a corridor. We follow after him and turn the same way, only to realise he's faster than we gave him credit for.
"Damn it. That bastard's faster than we thought." I whispered under my breath, after muttering a few curse words that Paul taught me.
"We lost him," Harry muttered.
"Well, well. Out late again, are we?" I voice snickered behind us
I scowled, turning around to find Malfoy, without his two minions.
"Shut up, Malfoy. Go back to your bed and snuggle with Crabbe and Goyle." I remarked, scowling constantly at Malfoy.
Suddenly, Mrs Norris scampered up, hissed at us, and ran back.
"Shit! Filch is nearby!" I hissed. "Run!"
We turned around the corner, Malfoy following us, only to find Filch waiting for us, stroking Mrs Norris in his arms.
"Students out of bed. That's against the rules. You five should know that." Filch sniggered. McGonagall appeared behind Filch, angry.
"You five. Come with me." We followed McGonagall to her office before she turned to us. "I am giving all of you detention for breaking the rules. You will be helping Hagrid tomorrow with any jobs he's doing. Now, off to bed." She dismissed us as we scurried out heading back to our Common Room; Malfoy heading to Slytherin Common Room.
Tomorrow, Harry, Ron, Hermione and I headed down to Hagrid's hut, followed closely by Malfoy, who was looking lost without his minions. Hagrid needed to go into the Forbidden Forest, so we had to accompany him. Malfoy looked petrified. Hagrid split us up into groups; Harry, Hermione and I in one group, and Ron, Hagrid and Malfoy in the other. We split up, Hagrid telling us to shout or scream if we needed anything. Hagrid gave us a lantern and led the other group away in another direction.
"Do you guys remember what we were looking for?" I asked.
"Nope." Harry replied
"I was too scared to listen." Hermione replied.
We walk for a while until we come to a small clearing. Over in a corner, a unicorn is laying on the ground, blood covering the ground around it. A hooded figure is over it and appears to be drink from it, like a vampire. Suddenly, Harry reaches up to his forehead where his scar is, while at the same time, my scar on my arm starts burning and throbbing. Harry winces as I clutch my arm.
"Harry, are you okay?" Hermione asks, before asking me the same question. Harry nodded while I shook my head. Hermione rested her hand on my arm before pulling her hand back quickly. "Lexi. Your skin. It's burning hot."
My body starts shaking like what happens to a wolf before they transform. Oh my god. I'm transforming. I back away from Harry and Hermione, telling them to stay where they are. I didn't want to hurt them accidentally like how Sam hurt Emily.
I suddenly leaned forward and my body turned into a dark brown wolf with red-brown streaks. Harry and Hermione gasped, Hermione stifling a scream, as they took in my new appearance. I walked up to them, nervous, and lowered myself onto the ground in front of them to show I wasn't going to hurt them. They realised what I was doing and Hermione even petted me.
I looked back at the unicorn, the figure still there, when a centaur burst through the trees, towards the figure. The hooded figure saw the centaur charging at it and floated away. Harry, Hermione and I ran up to the unicorn, to find it dead and completely drained of blood. Hermione looked like she might cry and throw up at the same time.
"My name is Firenze. I won't hurt you." The centaur introduced himself. He walked up to me, arms forward and hands open, to show he won't hurt me. I whined, scared. How do I turn human again?
"It's okay, little wolf. I've met some of your kind before when centaurs roamed free and didn't have to hide like we do now." Firenze reassured me while Harry and Hermione were petting me, comfortingly. "All you have to do is relax and stay calm. Once you are calm, you'll just about automatically turn human again.
"It's a monstorous thing to slay a unicorn, but to drink its blood? He only drinks it to keep himself sustained so he doesn't perish." After sharing that with us, he left back ito the trees.
"Just relax and stay calm, like he said, and you'll be human again in no time."
I could feel myself growing more calm and more myself and the burning started again as I transformed back to human, screaming in the process. Then I blacked out.
Firenze was talking about Voldemort. That hooded figure was Voldemort.
