'When The Right Moment Appears, The Key Is To Not Let It Pass'
----)(----
The sweet smell of old people and popcorn lingered itself into my nostrils the very instant i entered the cresmont. Alone, I waited for the newly acquainted Hannah Baker.
I tapped continuously in time with my music as I stood beside myself.Even Though I seem pacient, the need for a distraction had seeped what patience into the thought of Somthing to seperate myself from the evanescent crowds that pass through the crestmont atrium.
Music.
I unholster my backpack of which holds my usual necessities. Reaching into it, I grab my headphones, plug them into my phone and continue.Cranking up the volume slightly, the music began leaking from my headphones and into the open aired crestmont. Ever further into the numbness with a tender sigh and twitch of my breath.
Still smelling the blindly loved burning and popping of corn, my lips craved this taste of salty sweetness. Something new; something interesting. Maybe even risky. Only time could tell. And for time, i was pretty much early, as usual in the rare accurance that i actually hung out with people, other than my parents.
Continuing to click my feet against the floor, i leaned back into a comforting view of the crestmont entrance.
She's finally here.
I wasn't suprised to see the late blooming Hannah Baker make a quick yet subtle entrance.
Supporting her bag with one hand and the doors with another, she pushed with persistence and slight hesitation, finally making her way hastefuly towards the front desk. Towards the one and only,
"helmet!""And your late, its a shame really, I can tell how much you wanted to be here" my sarcastic comment set with a wry smile, was received and well noted by Hannah.
Seeming taken aback, hanah stepped into the sarcasm and clasped her chest, mimicking out first interaction. "ouch that was cold""Why Thank you" clay retorted, slowly forwarding the situation.
And then with a laugh between two friends, hannah and i where in line for tickets and remarking on the unpopular opinions of liberty High."Ok so I'll go first" with doubt came and answer. "misses antelly can't do her job"
That's a pretty specific unpopular opinion. I say, surprised. Misses antelly, the one and only guidence Councillor liberty High has to offer is being praised. That seems rare from what I've heared."Yes! I have noticed that she seems overly friendly and somewhat misplaced at times but in her defence, shes made me feel welcome, Other than you obviously."
And with a breath and tight break she spoke again but this time with a questioning tone to her words."there was somthing strange though, she had introduced me to another new girl. We insulted eachother for a start, but she seems fun"
Without bothering to ask her name, I watch hannah try to put a name to her mysterious acquaintance.
"I think her name was Jennifer?""It'll come back to you. from what I hear, she doesn't seem like the type to be forgotten" In responce, there was only a tilted surprised expression to her featured.
"I guess she's like you in that respect"
Snapping back to what had felt like concentration, the line had gotten smaller and we had drifted to the second to front of the line.
Watching the people infront of us walk away with their popcorn and snacks, I Lift my eyebrows towards the guy serving us and then order, leavig an open space for Hannahs suggestion of which she takes in anxiously.
With two tickets to watch stab 2, we stand away from the line in a sudden lapse of waiting. "oh damn it, I gotta pee. Hold my bag will you" without a seconds notice, Hannah was gone, leaving me alone with her bag placed round my neck and to my side, like she had been holding it a moment ago.
Time passed and with the returning feeling of warmth, without recollection i continued.
"I'm hungry, you want to eat now or... ?" Though not alone, Silence surrounded my request seeking guidance, an answer. Something simple.
A young, soft voice rose from from my question. The voice came from a young and seriously laid back guy wearing a very distinctive white and blue sports jersey. The very same jersey that homed a certain group of male students at liberty high, yet he was different. "Well hey hungry, I'm Justin and no thanks" The young boy's smile extended as he glared into my cute yet confused expression. "I'm already decked out in sour ball burst candy" he continued.
"Those things will kill your insides ya know" clay retorted, Sculpting Justin's already grin into a Cheshire like smile.
That damn smile. Both of us undecidedly laughed, stopped for a while, then became silent.
The silence lifted as life pressed play. "Helmet" A familiar voice spat towards her friend. Her Chocolate curls swayed as she walked towards the boys little introduction. "So... who's this?" She cooed, once again.
"Hannah this is Justin; Justin this is Hannah" I answered.
"Well I'm going to wait over there, Nice meeting ya Justin" then she left, bag back in hand, leaving us both to part ways.
Justin spoke up. "I guess I'll see you at school then jensen" his eyes looking straight into mine.
"you know my name?" I cooed.
"Of course I do clay" Justin being himself, poped another candy as if they where pills and continued to walk away leaving me standing there in the openness of the lobby.
Alone.
